I'll be your mod for the next few hours. We seem not to be under attack by any unusual - or alien for that matter - fauna this morning, but given that my current writing project involves hermit elephants there's no guarantee of anything.

They say these songs are quite beautiful, but no one's ever heard them. Also, no one quite knows who "they" are. They might be penguins.

OR: there has been progress in the last hour, hooray! And I am deep into (real) research, reading a 97-long-academic paper. Help, help.

I'd like to start off this hour with a little PSA concerning snacks.

I bought a box of Nabisco Fig Newtons, and I wanted to warn everybody that they are NOT RIGHT.
They don't taste the way they used to. Somebody has ruined this all-time favourite cookie. I'm very disappointed.

Kowolski, please take over. I gotta go wash my tongue...

It seems we've got a nice mixture of fandoms here, and many talented writers. However, I think that we're suffering a substantial lack of avian writers. Most of the people contributing here are bipedal mammals, and we all know how unreliable they can be.

Now, if you pay attention to the diagram that I've drawn, it will show the correct ratio of penguin-to-mammal---Hey,RICO!! Don't eat the diagrams! No! Put it down...
