Welcome to Round 23.5!  It's a long holiday weekend in the US, and if you're like me you're not in the mood to go fight crowds at the mall.  Instead, let's write!  This is a mini-round -- we'll be running from now until 8 pm GMT tomorrow, if all goes well.

Wow, we've got a lot more people than I'd hoped!  I was afraid I'd be curled up with a lonely browser, wondering where all the Cool Kids were.  Now we get to be the Cool Kids!

Wishing goodnight to those who are leaving us, welcoming those who have just woken and are ready for breakfast/writing, and howdy too everyone else who is hanging with us.

Personally, now that I've got some clean up done, I am ready to sit down and get another section on this (NaNoWriMo arghhgh, the NaNo Zombies have me.....). How about you?

How are all those words coming along? Have you got them all corralled up or are you still racing around the fields trying to find 'em?

Personally, my words seem to have gone astray, so I'm peeking under some rocks and tumbleweeds and such to see if I can figure out where they've wandered off to.

(Note, I'll be disappearing in about 30 minutes to drive home. I'm hoping I'll be back by the time the hour ends, but if not I will see you all in the next hour, which might be modded by Beth, or by me. We'll see)

Docs have been opened!  (Although others are resisting.)  Words are being written, in spite of resistance!  Onwards, 'Rushers!  We have nothing to lose but our giraffes!

The wind outside is blowing so hard that it is making my interweb flap and flibber. I'm opening my old WIP docs one at a time, and listening patiently for a whisper of life.

Overheard this evening at the Loth residence:

Me: "Ugh! Ahhhhh! Ghuhhh... come out of there! This instant!"
Muse, from under the couch: "No."
Me: "Please... I've got writing to do. Stories to finish. Letters to draft."
Muse, wallowing deeper under the furniture: "Not my problem."
Me: "It IS your problem! I need you to help me.."
Muse, disgusted: "When was the last time you vacuumed under here? *achoo!*"

*sigh*

I hear the musical sound of clickity-clack keyboards singing in the darkness... but it might be the sound of jelly babies rattling down the black hole that someone dropped on the floor. Watch your step!

Plenty of productivity happening during our little fic_rush! I can almost smell the creativity, wafting through the air like the scent of baking cookies!

I'll just sit here with a glass of milk and wait for the yummy to come out of the oven!

One of my LJ friends posted earlier today about attending a Bogart double feature film festival. That reminded me that one of my favourite films, 'To Have and Have Not', has been sitting on the shelf unwatched for far too long.

What film (or book or fic or music) do you like to listen to, which assists or inspires you to write? Or do you prefer the quiet?
