Welcome to Round 69, the sidlj Memorial Round!

For those who are new to this group, Sid was one of our long-term members.  She was a member of the Fic Rush Highly Irregular Mod Squad Reserves, with the title Penguin-At-Large.  She was primarily a Stargate fan (although she loved many other things), and was a leading light amongst Jack/Daniel slashers.  I'm not a slasher myself, and I only read porn occasionally, and she had ME firmly in her cadre of fans.

She was also warm and welcoming, inclusive and encouraging.  We lost her almost a year ago, and I miss her.  She would have loved to be here for Round 69.

So, in her honour, feel free to write ALL THE PORNS.  Or none of the porns, if your fancy does not lie there.  Write something rich in character, with or without snarky dialogue.  Research an interesting period or practice, and weave the research beautifully into your writing.  In her honour, say hi to a newbie in your group, make an encouraging joke or a supportive comment, throw out a prompt or respond to a prompt or watch an episode of your favourite show.  It's all good.

The next several hours are a Free-For-All Usurpation Orgy.  Be nice, have fun, and write ALL THE THINGS!

I just made black friday breakfast of raspberry lime pancakes served with Doorbusters (mimosas made with fresh apple cider instead of oj.) So I'm all fueled up on carbs, and ready to write some smut in honour of Sid. I only knew Sid through fic rush and she was always lovely and funny to interact with, and so good at encouraging MORE WRITING to happen, with just the right words of insight.

As a newbie, unfortunately I didn't know Sid, but my heart is with all of you who lost a friend. As a firm Jack/Daniel shipper, I will go and read some of her fics today.

Today I'm working on finishing up my NaNo novel (original m/m fiction). I breezed past 50k just this morning, but I have another 5k or so of the story left to write which I will hopefully manage this weekend. And much of it is PORNS. I'm currently in the middle of a "handjob in the shower" scene.

I'm also simultaneously running Word Wars over in the Get Your Words Out community (http://getyourwordsout.livejournal.com) chatroom. Yay for multi-tasking!

How are your GYWO words going? I have around 38k left to do and I just cannot see that happening by the end of the year so I'm going with a "I may fail but I will fail by as little as possible" mentality :P

My GWYO is going really well, thanks! I've got just under 2k left to hit my pledge target, which I will almost certainly do this month. I probably need to pledge a higher wordcount for next year. This was my first year so I wanted to make sure I picked someone I could achieve!

It still feels weird that Sid is gone. I didn't know her as well as some, but it still feels like an important piece is missing.

Hopefully, I can get back on the writing horse sometime this year. Didn't get as much done as I would have liked (mostly due to RL and computer problems), but hopefully the end of the year will provide some inspiration.

I miss Sid so much. :-( I only knew her through the 'Rush (and a little bit on your LJ comments), but usurping just isn't as much fun without her around to usurp my usurpations... :'-(
