I have internet again!!!I have internet again!!! Sorry for missing those two hours... Jareth the Goblin King must have seen the post I made and decided to get back at me. I lost the internet at 1:55!!! :(
Breakfast was... a while ago. It is almost 3pm here. (A lovely gorgeous windy blue 3pm - I would go outside and write pointless happy!Three fic if I was any good at it. Maybe I will anyway.)
Anyway. Status report. My FF/DW fic is now at 2000. I was a bit useful when I had no internetz. :( Then I did some homework. And started watching Planet of the Daleks.
Now I'm waiting for either my inspiration to come back or Doctor Who to be available on iPlayer. As I missed the original broadcast. As I had no internet. Oh, Keycom, how I hate thee.
Okay, so for just one second there I went "Wait, the second Eleventh Doctor episode is named Planet of the Daleks???" And then I realized that of course you're talking about the Planet of the Daleks from 1973, the one with Jon Pertwee in it. I am not quick on the uptake today.
But congratulations on your return of internet!!!!!!
Hehehe. It's okay, as soon as I posted that I was like "hmmm, would it look like I'm talking about today's episode?!"...
And yes indeed, the internet! *kicks Keycom*. Although, I guess it's not as bad as it could have been. Last time it was down on a weekend we didn't get it back til Monday noon. So 6 hours out is decent.
It's okay, as soon as I posted that I was like "hmmm, would it look like I'm talking about today's episode?!"...
Yes, it's a completely understandable misunderstanding. Good thing you and I weren't, say, just talking about Planet of the Daleks in your journal or something, because if that were the case, then I would look really stupid.
Yay for 2000 words of a Blyton crossover. (How marvellous is that?) and boo for loss of internet. Mine was BT related, and my phone is now non-crackly and he assures me it won't give random rings in the middle of the night!
Ah, that IS important! Crackly phones are terrible. But not as bad as random rings in the middle of the night! To be completely honest I don't exactly know what the deal with us is. My flatmate tried calling them on their tech support number... but it didn't even ring... BAH. Ah, well, it's over now.
And indeed, yay @ 2000 words! Although this starts looking like it's going to be an actual Blyton-size novel - they're still in the bloody cave! I try to keep her spirit and language (which is very hard for me. Her English is not what I'm used to. On the other hand, having bought a couple of books of Famous Five in English, I learned some pretty awesome things about the language!) so everything happens really really slowly. And I can't help but want to make a proper Famous Five esque introduction to the whole thing...
Yeah, I don't get the BBC. It's possible because the HD transmission today is supposed to be later than the episode on BBC1? Cos the links are already up, but when I try to watch through streaming or download it changes to not yet available. BLAH. But no. I shall wait quietly and patiently for the legal download. *is being a good Pitry*
Anyway! Apologies again for missing the last two hours :( If you need me to do it again tomorrow I'll be happy to (assuming that if my internet was eaten today, it won't be eaten tomorrow...)
It's alright. I think everyone was asleep during those last couple hours anyway. lullabymoon already said she could handle all of tonight.
I think the only way to see it legally from here is to wait 2-3 weeks after the conversation is dead and the spoilers aren't considered spoilers, and also, buy satellite plus some premium packages. For one show. That runs barely three months. I checked, and that other network that I'm boycotting because they hate women (and gamers, and people who watch scifi, and people who used to watch their shows back when they didn't suck) doesn't even carry it anymore. Just BBC America.
Oh, I know - iPlayer is fantastic. Ever since I moved to England I've become a spoilt brat when it comes to Doctor Who. You know how it is - once you have it, you want moar!! :D
Well, the license is so expensive here, and I got used to watching everything on my computer back when I lived in a country that aired The Next Doctor last week.
True story: this tuesday I wanted to watch something, and I was seriously worried that I couldn't remember how to change to the right channel.
:D Just goes to show, though, how many great things there are on telly! 0_0
I bet the cable bill for the TV I'm not watching, which is mandatory in order to also get broadband in my area, costs as much as a lisence fee. And anyway, I thought iPlayer was by broad groups of IPs, so you don't actually have to pay for TV to use it.
Oh, yes yes. iPlayer is just on the BBC website, so it's free. :)
And it sounds like your internet deal really sucks :( Can't you get broadband just on its own? Or does it have to be carried by the cable in your area?
I can't afford to move to the city. There's only one company's cables running all the way out here, and everything else is phone lines. There's satellite that might be faster, except for when it doesn't work because of bad weather or interruption from airplanes and stuff, which is probably all the time anyway. Plus I don't like there being any more things beaming around than there need to be.
Yeah, these things could fry your brain. And ooooh. :( that DOES suck. They keep on promising the world this great technology, but somehow no one ever seems to be able to get past the small print!
Anyway, I had similar probs to pitry, only for different reasons. There I was, all prepared to post, and write, and go into town, and then a BT engineer turned up to fix my phoneline, disconnected me and prevented me going out. And I can't write when workmen are liable to pop back in at any moment. So I wrote two drabbles and made two icons.
And by the time he went, it was time for dinner and DOCTOR WHO.
Hopefully, NOW, I might write something, but I wouldn't count on it.
OH! I've seen that bit! It was in the lovely episode you linked me to! :)
(still not on iPlayer. I did find the second episode of Ashes to Ashes, and as I had time to watch the first one when I HAD NO INTERNET, I am now back to being intrigued and downloading it. Sam Sam Sam Sam Sam.)

It'll be on iplayer soon. You're probably watching it now. You can tell me all about it. ;-)
