Hour 18 is brought to you by tea and ice cream.  Or hot soup, if that's more suited to your climate.

Last hour, we had people almost ready to start something!  Presumably not an intergalactic war that would kill trillions and potentially threaten the very fabric of space and time.  Has anyone started anything else yet?

Silver is a mouse! (I'm sorry, this is just a well-known fact.)

(Sorry, I once wrote a fic where Q turned Silver into a mouse, for reasons of his own, and it seemed... very right, somehow.)

I'm sure he'd be any form you want him to be! There is something a little rodent-y about him in some ways, but on the other hand he has that cat's ability to fall on his feet and not believe he can do any wrong.

(Damn, I was going to pretend I was not here and not comment till after I'd had food and felt alive again, but you went and mentioned Silver.)

ETA: *reads question properly* (I said I wasn't with it yet). Oh... if he was posing as a daemon, yeah, he might be anything. He'd definitely want to show off. Probably nothing as mundane as a cat or mouse. (Is he posing as Steel's daemon here? Or someone else's? If it was Steel, something as showy as possible for maxium annoyance of Steel while maintaining complete innocence.)

 Then, whatever Silver chooses, it probably has to have some aspect of "this is (what Silver thinks is) not an animal Steel would want as his daemon". (Though if it's a duck again, I think you would be heading towards the "fetish" thing and we might all need to worry.)

Or something that's still quite useful for doing things - like one of those little monkey things that are quite cute? (You can see my knowledge of mammal names is extensive). (I might be thinking of a marmoset, but I really am not sure.)

Stelmaria? I have read Pullman's trilogy, but I don't really remember all the details. (ETA: Oh, Lord A's daemon, presumably? I'm sure Silver will cope. Er. Probably.)

I'm pretty sure I'm not thinking of a lemur. Well. I think I'm not thinking of a lemur. My natural history is fairly rubbish.

But something along those lines! A clever little monkey with a long tail!

([livejournal.com profile] seriesfive is going to end up with a feathered creature, though, just you watch...)

(Er, sorry, [livejournal.com profile] seriesfive! I'll get over the duck eventually.)

Well, a monkey of that kind (I really don't know which I mean!) would be able to climb out of reach or slip away from a snow leopard, or do something generally tricksy, which does seem more Silver than trying to be something fiercer - I agree, that does sound like over-kill. (I... don't think he'd be completely averse to a sort of side-order of "look how cute I am, Steel" in choice of said form, either. Cue an unimpressed look from Steel, who now only goes for ducks.)

I think you may be splitting feathers hairs there. ;-p

I liiiiiive! 12 hours of sleep later, I have lunch to the left of me, "research" to the right, and here I am stuck in the middle with a ninja penguin.

Once lunch has been taken care of, it will be time to tackle the WIPs. Lord help us out.

I used a transdimensional sewing machine, IIRC.

*nods* One would need to.

I was trying to take a bit nap before Seder (as it's likely to run late), but instead I find myself crunching numbers about the gender balance of Newbery winners versus Newbery honorees overall. There are a disturbing number of years where the only man on the list won. o_O

Should numbers be crunchy? Is that good for your teeth? What do they taste like?

;-)

Hi! (Have we been on fic_rush at the same time for ages? I don't know if we have.)

Hi! I don't know either. Probably not. *hugs you*

Numbers are OMNOMINOUS. *omnomnom* ;-)

I might have known you'd be the sort to go round eating numbers. I expect you devour letters as well, don't you?

Actually, during the entirety of the 1930s, no man won the Newbery Medal and only ten were even nominated - against 53 women. (After which some !@#$%^&* whose YA fiction I love dearly, but who REALLY needed to sit down and shut up in this context, made a speech at an ALA conference saying something like "there's too much sugary slipshod feminine thinking in kidlit" and the stats jump visibly backward. o_O)

111 words, and I don't like this story anymore. Since I started it two hours ago, that's about the fastest falling out of story I've had in awhile.

So, now something completely different.

I am here. I'm not sure what I'm doing. I was going to pretend I wasn't here, but failed at that.

Er. There could be writing of some point in my near future, I don't wish to commit myself yet.

There will be dinner fairly soon, though, I can say that much.

Hmm, a good point. The writer part of my brain is going "I've been offstage for FAR TOO LONG," is all. Should never have taken it to see Spamalot.
