So last hour, I... changed all the color settings on my word processing program! Because really, it was completely monotone gray (b----y Linux), and I at least cannot write cheerful!Third Doctor fic on a gray screen.
So now there is royal blue and lime green involved, and if I haven't written anything yet, at least I don't start feeling depressed as soon as I click over to the writing screen. =D
I'm back, now I have to research some chemical reactions and hope they will somehow make sense in this story and invent something else if they don't. I skipped out on chemistry in favor of biology in school, but the Doctor doesn't need to dissect frogs here, he needs Aktual Skience that does something.
Icon LOVE. Also, Research Rules. I've spent most of the last hour reading rather squicky details of certain medical conditions, just so I can whump with authority.
What do you need it to do? Because I skipped biology lab in favor of chemistry. (I have no desire whatever to dissect frogs at any time. Whereas making things bubble up in test tubes and go "splurt"... yeah. *g*)
At this point I have it pretty well figured but I do wonder if it is possible to ignite magnesium in any sort of larger chunk or does it have to be in shavings/powdered first? Also, would some hydrochloric acid in the ocean be a major bad thing for local sea life or would it just sort of make the seaweed wilt for a while? *scratches head*
I'm pretty sure magnesium has to be in shavings in order to ignite. It might be possible to ignite it in solid form, but it'd be pretty hard work.
As for hydrochloric acid in the ocean, I've no idea, except that it would obviously depend pretty heavily on the amounts and on how stagnant or not the water was.
If you've got the time to wait for your post to be reviewed and unscreened - which can be a few days - you might ask in little_details about the hydrochloric acid thing. Or you could poke round in their tags, which are incomplete but still pretty impressive. It's a really amazing resource. (I found it through lolmac's profile, actually...)
Actually trying to work on this outline now. A really random pairing that doesn't belong to any fandom in particular (musician RPF? It's not bandom, it's not Disney, they're not even in the same music genre) and I'm 6700 words into an outline. That's like, half the scenes? I have another fifteen or so to go. Need to stop going into detail and just outlining so it will be done before I go to bed tonight.
This is a side-community for fic_rush, where we post our hourly posts during rounds. If you've wandered in here by accident, you'll want to go there instead.
If you're with fic_rush and have just shown up, look for most recent hourly post.
