I've managed about another 400 words on my bigbang. I'm stuck though on what exactly powers the tardis.

ETA: ARGHHHHHHH! checked wikipedia and black hole is referred to as the main power source. Also the universe, which has the potential to majorly frak up my plot. Someone for the love og god remind me about the Rise of the Cybermen ep in New Who.

Would it work to have the Doctor just make something up? Tell them it's powered by old holiday candies, because there's always a generous supply of that to be had in the universe, etc... Or toss some Latin/Greek/Bulgarian roots together and make up a technobabble name that sounds like something powerful, maybe?

It might actually. Now I've calmed down from my universe powered freak out and done a bit more research I think I'll just say it's primarily a black hole. Which should give a fun reaction.

Or alternatively if it's a 'oh no, we're out of power' situation could there be something simply blocking or gumming up the TARDIS' interface with it - i.e. blocking her ability to nom her noms?

Well it's more of an exchange of information really. The Alphans are giving him a tour of the base, including their power systems and he is asked what powers his ship.

Didn't it used to be the Eye of Harmony aka a transdimensional interface with that black hole star Omega blew up, but now that Gally's gone he has to park on top of the rift in Cardiff and fill her up with interdimensional rift energy or something?

(I have seen exactly none of the eps that explain these things, so this is all drawn from my store of "stuff I sneakily learned from books and fanfic in order to converse sensibly with Whovians". But it might help...)

Yeah that's what I had managed to figure out as well from my research. *Yeah I've not seen any of those eps either). Luckily, it's classic Who so I can just go with Black hole technology and not have3 to go into to much technobabble (I'll save that for the rest of the story).

I'm here. I think I'm done for the day - I've written around 12000 words since I last checked in, and roughly 22000 words in total today. Not sure of the exact word count until I type it all up (why yes, I do write longhand rather than straight into a WP, since you didn't ask! :P)

Typing up (with concomitant editing) can wait until tomorrow, though!

Thanks! I'm feeling quite pleased with myself - and also quite knackered! Hence putting off the typing up. If I try to do it now I'll likely end up with more typos than not.
