It's weird going back to the beginning of a fandom for the first time and realizing how much everything has changed (and how problematic the early installments are). Anyway, I'm taking a break from research to make this new borscht recipe I found *fingers crossed* What new and exciting (or old and exciting) things will you accomplish this round?

One of my fandoms is The Professionals, an English TV show from the late 70s/early 80s so "problematic" is a word we leave by the door.

I'm still editing the tentacles. I'm trying for sexy and it's just coming out a bit meh.

I was in the Life on Mars fandom for years... still technically am as I never really give up a fandom love and I'm committed to writing another story for the anniversary celebrations.

Coma world was fun to write for (the sky's the limit) and there were many incredible writers in such a small fandom.

One of the reasons I'm having trouble writing the fics I'm currently working on is that I really want to write for Life On Mars - I have so many notes that I'm itching to work on!

(I, er, may have written a LOM drabble... it's on AO3 ::pimp, pimp::)

Incidentally, do you know if Gene ever had dealings with drag artists (I can't remember anything in LOM, but I haven't watched A2A yet). I have an... interesting intoabar assignment!

It's sad that the fandom isn't anywhere near as big as it used to be, not that it was gigantic but it was very active with a very busy com.

He didn't in LoM but I can't answer your question as I watched two episodes of A2A and noped right out of it. Yes, I'm one of the LoM fans who prefers to deny A2A exists... there are a lot of us.

I have a distinct feeling I'm not going to enjoy A2A, but I know my curiosity will get the better of me sooner or later, and maybe there will be one or two tidbits that will fit into my LOM worldview.

The way I see it, Gene will either blow a gasket or fall over laughing when he meets Klinger in drag. I haven't decided which way to go yet, but I'm sure I'm going to have a ball with it!

oh my, yeah that sounds like a sensible policy. I definitely hold 20th century works (and earlier) to a different standard of PC.

It wasn't awful by the standards of its time, there were female CI5 agents, and as the male characters were sporting the ultra-tight trousers so fashionable in the 70s it was far easier to objectify them than the female characters. :D

I think it may be a particularly English problem but I find sex scenes without humour almost impossible to write.
