Round 70: Hour 2
Dec. 18th, 2015 08:00 pmHello, hello, Rushers! I see we are off to an amazing start for this Round already! Come along Pond (when you get a breather!) and post your thoughts. Share snippets and wants-to-be-written and notes and projects and things you are actually doing when you'd rather be writing. :D There are cookies and beverages all set up - and plenty of paper and pens for those old schoolers out there. Fire away in the comments (but only after you get that last plot-point outlined).

Date: 2015-12-19 11:14 am (UTC)So, hm, okay … My heart wants me to write a crossover between Z Nation and Teen Wolf solely for the purpose of slashing 10K with Isaac (thinking about it, maybe it's not only my heart that's pushing this idea. But I digress.) Of course I chose to do that for a challenge that requires 100k o.O
I have a vague concept—key scenes—but the endless possibilities how to get to each of those scenes kill me. I can't even settle on how to start. Now I'm wondering if I should throw the "concept" overboard and just see what happens. Or I could follow all the possible routes to the end and then see which one I like best?
Any idea what to do at that point?
[And yeah, I really can't picture anyone wanting to read this, as Z Nation basically has no fandom, and Isaac has long left Teen Wolf and is therefore not of interest to many people these days. But then I tend to do my own thing anyway, so it doesn't really matter all that much :o)]

Date: 2015-12-19 08:28 pm (UTC)Well, even if that is the ONLY purpose, it is something that should be done because you want it so. Trust me, damned near everything can be crossed over - and most of it has been.
Write those scenes down...then add the concept, step back and see what fills in the gaps between. Then sit down, come up with the hardest thing (that first sentence!) and let THEM tell YOU the story. I find that always works best for me. Of course, what works for me, may not work for you - but I'm sure the ways and means of your writing will come through for you.
*Laughs* I'm always sure no one wants to read what I write, honey. I've always slashed odd things and thrown odd concepts together. I was among the first Rory/Eleven slashers for Who Fandom. I write SPN-DW crossovers with Dean Winchester and the Eleventh Doctor as lovers and that concept didn't fly until recently amongst readers. Write what you love, what you wish to - and there will be readers who love it just as much as you. There always are. And as for doing your own thing - is there truly any better way? :D

Date: 2015-12-19 11:20 pm (UTC)Up until twenty minutes ago, until I'd watched the Z Nation finale, my heart wanted this so, so much. Right now, I'm crushed; the whole concept doesn't sit well with me anymore, and I'm not even sure I can deal with any of this.
That said—and guessing I'll feel better after a shot or five of vodka, if only I had vodka here—I actually love the idea of writing those scenes I know I want (need) to have and see how everything else might fall into place. I'm a little scared I may not be able to tie these scenes together in the end, but then I think it doesn't make a difference if I fail stringing together a coherent story as I'm writing it or as I'm trying to conceptualize it. And if all else fails, I could always have several one-shots in a universe I happened to create … so there's that.
Yeah, I really like this. I guess I'll try just that.
Funny enough, I tend to be the first person telling others: "Follow your heart. If you have a story to tell, tell it, no matter what." I guess I needed someone to tell me the exact same thing for a change :o) And its's true: there's always someone, somewhere, who may ne waiting just for this one story to happen. So, yeah, once I've recovered from my finale woes (and they're just messing with their viewers anyway, right? Right?) I shall quit being a baby about this and just do it!
I love the fact that you're all, like, doing your thing all the time! That's kinda … badass :o)
Thanks again! You have no idea how much you just helped me!
