And another 1,000 words. Not so bad as the last thousand - so far I've only need to read up on the history of the British Museum. Currently both word count and story look to be on track, so I'm feeling fairly happy. I'm going to reward myself with a chocolate and possibly some goofing off time.

I wrote a few words. Then I was cold and made a fire in my fireplace. Now my living room smells like wood smoke.

Definitely a "nay"-- filled my house up with smoke and had to turn off the furnace and open a bunch of windows and doors. Luckily it wasn't super super cold out, but yeah. That was the opposite of my intention.

Got up late (so much for last night's intentions!) and was instantly seized by a rabid plot bunny for the community Secret Santa I'm doing, rather than a grown-up version of one of the Yuletide ones I was supposed to be sleeping on!

So I wrote down a quick outline and some snippets of dialogue. Alas, this one's going to be very research-intensive, since it's a historical AU (I know a reasonable amount about the period in question, but not enough for fix). Also, I need to come up with some OCs, because I may need to kill a couple of people off, and I don't want to do it to any of the canon characters. But I've never written anything with OCs before ::eep::

As far as the OCs are concerned, it occurred to me that I can poach suitable characters from another of my fandoms set in the same time period and situation. If I pick ones that were killed off by the author, they are already dead to me, so to speak, so it won;t bother me as much to kill them off again!
