In Hour 17, I decided to dodge work for a while, take a long lunch break, and figure out my Yuletide requests. Lunch was a roaring success, Yuletide maintenance was not. Lately I've found that one of my biggest writing problems is simply not knowing what I want. If I give myself the freedom to write anything I end up writing nothing.

How do you know what you want? What's your biggest obstacle right now -- and what are you going to do to break it up or walk around it?

Or, if you'd rather keep it 100% positive, what are you accomplishing in this hour or the next? Tell me your deeds, or just keep on doing them!

I'm a bit confused about what happened in which hour, but over the last few I have finished the walk report I was supposed to have posted early in the week, never mind this morning, and solved a mystery (which is almost Actual Research!), and had a bath, and eaten my dinner, and now I'm writing up several weeks' worth of dance names in my group's record book, because we'd lost it and couldn't write what we did in it as we went along!

And I only seem able to write fic for prompts and challenges at the moment - which is why I'm getting myself mixed up in a few!

Like I said in the last post, I've written 299 words in the last hour-ish and counting - drabble is left behind in the dust!

I do love writing challenge fic because there's a definite goal in sight - but sometimes I lose sight of that goal and write 5,000 words of non-romantic action fic for a femslash fest, which I did last month. *sigh*.

My biggest obstacle right now is not being able to decide whether to write fanfiction or original for NaNo - I have two ideas and I love them both! Decisions, decisions.

Tbh they're pretty much chalk and cheese. One is a sci-fi/space opera-y thing about a woman gaining supernatural powers from a gruesome experiment and charging all over the galaxy looking for revenge and her lost starship crew, and the other is about a former assassin who escapes from Hell with a cursed sword and is chased all around a Medieval Japan-esque kingdom by a determined priestess. At the moment I'm leaning more toward the sci-fi, and since it has more world building and character building done for it, I might go for that, since I find it easier to come up with plot at short notice.
