I am surrounded by words right now, but they're all a little the wrong ones. That's what editing is for, but my editing brain is exhausted by all the words. I need a better system. Oh well!

Think of it this way, you couldn't edit at all if there weren't the words there in the first place so all those words that feel wrong at the moment, are in fact a crucial part of the system :)

Naomi's Writing Tip: When working on fanfic never go back and check the source material - you will discover you remembered something wrong and now have to delete 200 words.

Oh my God yes! The amount of times I've come up with a brilliant idea, written it all out, finished it, go back to edit it and then I get that tiny niggling "hold on..." and it tuns out the tiny little detail that my plot turns on is canonically wrong or impossible or something happens in the ten seconds after the moment that I'm thinking of that completely negates the moment and I have lost so many fics that way D:

Or in this case the thing I want to have the character find out before hand, he doesn't find out until halfway through a Major Fandom Moment. So now you're stuck having to write out dialog, and you can't play around with the words because EVERYONE knows this scene.
