Good morning there. This is my very first time around here, so I'm pretty excited, but … I'm also pretty torn because my rl, daily job translation stares at me telling me not to neglect it. I guess I'll have to spend the remainder of this hour deciding if I rather work or try banging out a little fannish something in the next hour :o)

There is nothing that says you can't do both! Plenty of people work on things that aren't fannish (or even word related sometimes) so whatever you decide is fine by us!!

So far, I do! It's nice to be able shout out, "I did something!" Even if it's only small things, but when i can look at them at the end of the day, they accumulate to an actual accomplishment. Well, at least that's what I hope, hahaha.

And thank you! I really hope to get to fic writing soon-ish, but I'm actually pretty behind on my rl work. I need at least another 11-21 pages done today to catch up *sigh* However, I don't think I'd manage without being here, so that's a very, very good thing =)

Thank you! And best of luck with yours too. I'm writing original fiction,not fan fic (sorry, not sure of the terminology) and hope to publish traditionally... at the moment, I just want to get this draft finished! How about you?

Quick terminology: yes, it's called fanfic, or fan fic, often shortened to "fic". Original fiction is sometimes called "origfic" (not very original, but no matter).

Like most of the people here, I write fanfic, mostly Stargate and MacGyver. At one point a few years back, I toyed with some ideas for original novels that would be potentially publishable, but I soon realized that I was happier with writing as a hobby, and settled back into that headspace.
