Hi there! I'm joining kind of late in the game this weekend and probably only for a little while as I'm feeling pretty under the weather. I'm a friend of lolmac's and I've barely used LiveJounral in years. I've been thinking of poking around on it again, though, and I've been writing fic again more often.

Currently, I'm working on a fic for an anime called Steins;Gate. One of the characters had a canon birthday back on April 3rd and this was meant to be a short maybe 1k fic, but it has gotten away from me. I would like to finish it before April is actually over, but I don't know if that is going to work for me. It just keeps snowballing.

Anyway, as I mentioned I'm kind of sick so hopefully I don't flake on writing at least some, but if nothing else I wanted to give it an effort and introduce myself. Hopefully next time I'll be around more that just a couple of hours!

*accepts the glowstick* Is this just a strange coincidence or a subtle reference to Steins;Gate? I'm intrigued!

My problem is, I can never predict how long my fics will be. Sometimes for exchanges I need 1000 words and can't make it happen. Then once I get going, it's usually 2.5k or bust. At least.

Welcome! :D The glowsticks are a long-standing fic_rush thing -- the original idea is that you activate the glowstick and write for as long as it keeps glowing. I don't remember who introduced them (it was several years ago O_O), but at this point they're just standard fixtures of the 'rush, along with the ninja penguins and alien fish. ^_^

I will have to learn of these traditions! Thank you for telling me. It's just such a funny coincidence because there is a sort of Darth Vader lightsaber glowstick thing which factors into the plot of the fandom I'm writing for at the moment. I am curious about the most-used tags I see over on the side. They sound ominous.

I'm... honestly not sure about galactic domination, that's mostly a dbskyler thing, I think. :D Usurpation is what happens when a mod is late or absent for making a scheduled post (often due to timey-wimeyness / confusion in the schedule) and another mod steps into the gap. sidlj, who passed away recently, was our Usurper Supreme... :-(

We have so many traditions. So many. It's pretty cool, imo. ^_^

I'm amazed at you guys going so strong for so long! I have been on tumblr for a number of years and so many things there are a flash in the pan.
