Round 8 Hour 3

I've noticed, or more accurately I've just made up, a pattern: Hour 3 is the hour in which the serious writing!!! starts.

Making a temporary banner for awesometopia, until we can have a header contest. awesometopia is a land comm, but with a general theme (scifi/fantasy/geek culture) instead of a single fandom. idk if you've seen land comms before or not.

No, I've never heard of land comms.

They have teams and challenges, and you do the challenges to get points for your team. Every so often, the team with the most points wins. The challenges are fic and graphics contests, and some random games. Most of them are either a group of fandoms with a team for each show (whedonland, Team Dollhouse etc.) or a land for a show with teams for characters (drwholand, Team Doctor etc.). But some fandoms are too small to support an active land, which is where awesometopia comes in.

And I just advertised five comms in one paragraph.

Ooh, and they're tons of fun, too. I play on team_sisko at starfleet_hq and yeah, we have three challenges in the main comm each week, and one in the team comm for the month. It's fun and we earn points - sometimes silly and sometimes truly challenging.

I have no idea if there's one for MacGyver, but maybe there's one for eighties action adventure shows?

The larger fandoms, such as Harry Potter, often have several land comms.

...Really? Because I looked at starfleet_hq, but no part of it that I checked had any activity since last fall. And in fact, there are Star Trek caps in my small-fandoms-only header right now.

Yes. One of the mods from last year is very sick and it took awhile to work out passwords and such, but new captains have been found and the comm is back up and running. We're voting on Round 1 now.
