Round 7 Hour 46

THREE HOURS LEFT.

I say this for no reason other than to give you all an unnecessary sense of impending doom.

DOOM! DOOM! No, not the MIND PROBE! DOOOOM!

Er. The amount of WIPs I have started over this weekend is disgusting. I just started another one.

LOL. (Especially after having recently watched "Frontier in Space." Don't you just hate it when you run out of mind probes?)

YES! He keeps on breaking them by insisting he was going to meet a purple giraffe or something. The bastard! :D

You mean, as opposed to the other 700+ episodes?.. *confused* :)

NOT THE SENSE OF IMPENDING DOOOOOOOM!!!!!

I had an unexpected family visit and got nothing written for the last several hours. Hoping to get partway thorugh a big scene in the next hour.

I've realized that I am afraid of my WIP. I don't want to open up the file, I don't want to look at it, I am afraid that it will bite me. Or turn out to be full of suckiness. One or the other.

I think what I need to do is not even worry about where I left off, and instead jump into writing a later scene of the story, especially if I can think of one that I feel really in the mood to write. Then if I'm lucky, I'll be able to go back and join them together.

THIS PATH LIES MADNESS!

But good madness. Go for it! That's what I always do... that's why my beginnings are so rubbish. They're only written cos I can't say "and then stuff happens and now the good bits start". :(

I love that summing up - yeah... *nod nod*

People don't seem to take it very well when you do it, though. :(

"Really. you WANT to start from chapter 5. Trust me!" *looks innocent*

[identity profile] pitry.livejournal.com 2010-04-11 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Trust me, I do that when I can. Whenever I can. Sometimes it's just impossible.

(Specifically on the chapter 5 issue: I had to develop the characters in the 4 previous chapters for chapters 5-7 to make sense, otherwise it would have been out of character. It wasn't something I could jump in the middle of. But then chapters 2-4 went sort of okay, but chapter 1 bored the hell out of me. And I wrote the damn thing! But I just couldn't find a way around it. Who knows, maybe if I would have written it today, it would have been different...)

Am now printing fic off so that I can read, correct and discover it makes no sense and I need to put the missing pages back.

DOOM!

Erm, well. Must be time for bed, then.

DOOM! DOOM!

But at least, you've got the proofreading stage. HOORAY!

[identity profile] primsong.livejournal.com 2010-04-11 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Proofreading FTW!

It's never ceases to amaze me how many things I spot once it's printed on paper - it must be filtered through a different part of the brain than when it's on the screen? Good luck!

[identity profile] dbskyler.livejournal.com 2010-04-11 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Even weirder is I sometimes spot things during the "preview" stage of a post that I never saw before when it was simply a file on my computer. Is brain-filtering in html different from brain-filtering in MS Word?
