Round 56, Hour 7
Sep. 20th, 2014 07:45 am*nips in to save the hour from falling through the cracks*
How did this hour go? Is there anybody out there? Is it just me? In which case, the only words I have are those in this post, but I am in the middle of achieving breakfast. How about you?

Date: 2014-09-20 06:58 am (UTC)Aside to mods--should someone post a poll for next month as soon as this round ends? You know, so we don't have this last minute confusion like the past two rounds?

Date: 2014-09-20 07:02 am (UTC)As for the rest, last round was an official unoffical extra long round, really & I think our main mod has had RL happening lately.

Date: 2014-09-20 05:38 pm (UTC)I would be unutterably delighted if someone else would like to take on the task of putting up the polls, either regularly or intermittently. Would you be interested in this? They're quite easy to set up.

Date: 2014-09-20 05:54 pm (UTC)posting polls
Date: 2014-09-20 06:21 pm (UTC)Check in with me before you post a new monthly poll, so I know when you're doing it and can update you on any scheduling concerns we might have.
To post a poll:
- Go to the comm (
- On the right-hand side of the posting page, there's a drop-down list, "Other ways to post" -- select "Create a poll".
In the Poll Creator:
- Give it a name (i.e., "Round 57 Dates").
- Leave viewers and voters set to "All".
- Select type of poll: Check Boxes.
- Click "Add question".
- Enter the question (i.e., "When shall we have Round 57?")
- Enter the available dates in the fields. (Additional silly options are optional.) If you need more than 5 options, click "more fields". Leave unneeded fields blank; they will not post if they're empty.
- Click on "See preview -->" at the bottom of the page.
- Review the results and click "Post poll -->".
This will NOT actually post the poll. It will put the coding for the poll into an otherwise ordinary posting page. You still need to finish the post.
- IMPORTANT: Check to make sure the post is about to be made to the comm, not to your own journal!! LJ often resets to your own journal when you use the Poll Creator. Under "New Entry" at the top of the page, see if you need to change to "Post to community".
- Title the post (i.e., "Round 57 Poll").
- Tag it "polls" and the appropriate tag for the round.
- Add any additional text you need. If you want the text to go ahead of the poll, you will need to move from the Visual Editor tab to the HTML code tab, add your text ahead of the poll code, and then go back to the Visual Editor tab. If you're not sure what I mean by all this, let me know and I'll unpack it.
I've just given you the necessary posting permissions to do these. Welcome to the Mod Squad!
THANK YOU.
