Hi, I'm taking over posts for the next few hours! So, what's everyone up to? Any writing triumphs or disasters to share? And if you're joining this hour, welcome!
I should go put some laundry away. Or stop reading about chronophysics, given that it's only ever written about by people who use words like "chronophysics".
Ah, the age-old dilemma, laundry or chronophysics?
(I'm impressed, by the way. I would like to say I've been reading about chronophysics, but I've been watching TV. Although the show is over, so I ought to get back to writing.)
Well, chronophysics in scifi. So basically I've been reading about plot holes, all of which happen to be in a certain sub-genre.
Important writing update: I just got a remix assignment from whedonland. Also I am going to bed. Probably.
...It's just that I have this really creepy idea I want to write about where there is no single "Rose in Pete's World" because the existence of Pete's World means that the universe is always branching so the single Rose that got stranded there is now like 248028472304 Roses and ONE of them got back to the Doctor that we've been following (who I believe is unique). In one world, the kid's name is actually Doctor.
And none of that has anything to do with anything that I'm writing. And I don't have a plot to go with the idea.
Actually, that made complete sense to me! But then again, I used to watch "Sliders." ; )
In my experience, ideas are the hardest part, and you've got a great one. In my further experience, ideas keep until you're ready to write them. So be happy about what you've got, and don't fret about lack of plot yet!
Congratulations or condolences on the remix assignment (depending on what you think of it) and if you do go to bed, sleep well!
Blog post counts as writing! Also, blog posts and fics are not mutually exclusive. It's a stellar idea, truly. We always think about alternate universes having branched off in the past, but don't think about how one is branching off right now . . . and now . . . and now! So of course there are multiple Roses who got left in Pete's World! And there's a universe where you already have the plot for this fic, too. In this universe it's due to arrive later -- perhaps somewhere around Hour 45?
Still here. I was trying to expand some fragments but they're remaining pretty fragmentary so far - may just stuff them into my collection of bunny-bits for another time and go back to scribbling on a partial story from last time instead.
Fragment-wrangling can be so frustrating! You're sure there's a story there somewhere, but it just . . . doesn't . . . quite . . . come . . . together! Hope you get those fragments in line, and/or make progress on the other story!
Well, I did wrangle one into being a part of one of the chapters in the bigger work, so it wasn't a total waste in bunny-chasing. :-) I've also garnered a historical niggle to pursue, so it's all good.
Congrats! And I love it when fic requires one to pursue something one wants to do anyway. Earlier this evening I was absolutely required to go watch some Third Doctor as background for a fic. The sacrifices I make for my art! ; )
My muse's ADHD has kicked in and I've been flucuating between a ton of different fics, plus I got my Torchwood Support Stacie prompt from Wiggie. That one actually promises to be fun.
This is a side-community for fic_rush, where we post our hourly posts during rounds. If you've wandered in here by accident, you'll want to go there instead.
If you're with fic_rush and have just shown up, look for most recent hourly post.
