Grrr, this stupid section I'm working on is missing something, and I don't know what. I just know it's been like pulling teeth to write like 1200 words in the past 3 months.
It's been months since I sent her anything of it; usually I just send her a finished chapter and then she sends me back questions. I feel like I need to talk through this section with someone, or more likely, there is something I need to scrap in order to back up and start over... I just hate doing that.
It can help to talk through things. Some betas are good at that, and some aren't. You also have to feel comfortable having that relationship with a beta; it's a different type of beta-ing than editing a finished chapter.
It can also help to put it aside and come back to it with fresh eyes. I know that feels like procrastination, but it's actually not. It does add to the writing time, though.
I think this is my attempt after looking at it with fresh eyes. Three years plus on this story. I know what I want to happen and kind of how but this point I'm at right now is a pivot point and it's not working. I should just go write a different part of it so that I can come back and finish this part up as the last part to bridge two longer sections. I am just dealing with lots of weird POVs, and the necessity to switch POV ... it's like trying to fashion a keystone or something for an arch. A really tricky keystone.
