I just spent four hours chatting with Mum on Skype, so I am of course raring to ... open a story that is largely about increasingly jaded reactions to killing people and work very hard on it.
Welp, in order to get one word in the story right, I am currently reading a message board where a bunch of people who claim to be ex US special forces pontificate on random strangers they met who have also made that claim, and attempt to bust posers!
It's hilarious and I may get some useful language/jargon flavour from it. (Note, I have no desire to research by actively interacting with poser-busting ex special forces persons. That is outside my wheelhouse.)
