Well, I think I have the first question more or less figured out. Fic_Rush is being very helpful, because I'm talking to you guys instead of to a college application board that might or might not consist of people I've met in person and/or who knew my parents.

Heading for the second sub-question now. It is, in plain language, "What do you like best about our college?" Which is at least easier to answer now I've been there! *g*

The official numbering gives five, two of which are two-parters. But they're convoluted. My unofficial plain-language translation gives me 21, ranging from "Do you like reading?" (hee hee, do I ever!) to "Analyze a good book. Use two full pages."

Basically, because it's a college where most of the classroom work is Great Books discussion among the students instead of lectures and note-taking, they want to make sure I know what I'm getting into and kind of find out how I think. I'm sure I can handle it, myself, but I have to convey that to them...

Two full pages on a book just to convince them you have the right to give them your money? Wow, these people are incredibly full of themselves. Though I guess that makes a little sense as a reason. I never read good books outside of fanfiction, so I don't think I can help with that question.

Sounds good to me - from what you've mentioned about this private college before, it weeds out the ones that would just be completely drowned in the curriculum and end up taking up everyone else's time with disruptions, confusion or complaints... familiarity with Classic education and the history and languages of that body of work plus some level of competence in communicating it would have to be a given in the students. Actually - I'm very jealous!
