Well, I have got as far as putting all the questions and implied sub-questions on the essay into plain language. This will hopefully help me not go all hi-falutin and contentless in my answers.
I am working on the first question now. It is, in my plain-language translation, "Why do you want to come here?"
I know why I want to go there - it is a place to learn how to think, and also other cool things like Newton and Aquinas and such. And also it is a place where "liberal arts" literally means "the arts proper to the free person", and after 4.3 years as basically a slave to an evil fixer-upper house (I'm not kidding), I could use a little knowing what freedom is, because I don't.
But how in the heck am I supposed to turn that into good rational-sounding English?!
Maybe explain what you mean by "the arts proper to the free person" for a bit. And also say more explicit stuff about Newton and Aquinas and learning to think because it'll make you sound all smart.
I am also tired, but with less of the good excuses. I heartily recommend both Starbucks and bright, full-spectrum lighting (such as that produced by the sunlight between your computer and Starbucks) to help.
