Round 44. Hour 8
Sep. 14th, 2013 09:06 amSo... another fine hour of fic rush has begun. Apparently usurpation will continue this evening with
pitry being away later today.
I had a nice breakfast and have given my WIP folder some serious stares while others have been far more productive with writing and digital spring cleaning...
What are you up to this hour? Tell me and meanwhile - have a lemur...

What is that lemur doing? 0_o

Date: 2013-09-14 07:31 am (UTC)I'd noticed (it's been weeks! or at least a week, maybe nearly two). I was going to send an email and ask if your pc had died, and then thought about the logic of that. But I was wondering if you were okay.
Heh, I gave in and am writing a sort of sequel to The Cornfield (or have written it, I should say), and I was thinking of you, not only because of Silver/Steel, but because every so often when editing I stop and worry about whether I've subconsciously just copied something from one of your fics - I really have no idea any more when it comes to Elemental shippiness!!

Date: 2013-09-14 07:58 am (UTC)Heh, good. In the end, I could only throw up my hands and stop worrying about it, because you're right, it has gone both ways now. :-)
And in unrelated things, shortly before you disappeared I acquired a pocket German dictionary (for all of 20p). I thought it would have the little grammar-y bit in the middle they used to have and I could sometimes attempt to construct a sentence occasionally and you could laugh at me. However, it didn't. All it has is a Useful Phrases section at the back, which seems to mean that I can complain about my terrible holiday/business trip (which, frankly I was a bit pessimistic about to start with, as I clearly anticipated everything going wrong, and then it did). Like so:
Was tue ich bei einem Unfall?
Ich habe eine Panne.
(I can't even get money out of the cash machine without it swallowing my card, the hotel is terrible, so is the restaurant and the public transport is just horrendous. And then on the way home I lose my luggage. I can't think why I didn't just stay at home.)
Anyway, I don't know why this amused me far too much but it did. It's also clearly been swiped off a German-published dictionary, because it's actually German to English. (It tells me how to pronounce all the English words and none of the German ones, a faith in my language skills that is completely unjustified.)
:-)

Date: 2013-09-14 08:33 am (UTC)Well, it's the only sensible thing to do, if things get that bad. *sends some good wishes your way*
*cough* Yes, well, Ive not become any more coherent in the meantime! And yes. I don't know whether I've not been glancing at enough phrase books, but it seems exceptionally pessimistic to me, so I just started imagining this one person having all these things go wrong on their holiday. (So, unfortunately, all I can do in German is complain a lot: Das habe ich nicht bestellt! Ich bin damit nicht zufrieden.)
