I've had no luck, fic wise, although I've managed to write a post and get some research done.

I would spread the research but quite frankly I'm trying not to think about it. Suffice to say: I'm going to get cremated when I die.

You had to research that? I came to that conclusion after watching a year or two of Buffy.

Anyway, research counts as long as it gets used for something eventually.

Well, the research involved the length of time you could stay alive in a coffin, but I wasn't sure how squemish everyone else was!

But yes, Buffy made me come to the same conclusion years ago.

Well, I have half a page of talking-to-myself notes on the nightclub design... it does include one remark about the characters that should turn into an Incident in the finished fic, though, so that's something.

And at least I know what POV the next scene in my help_haiti fic is from. Which is something more.

But it's getting on for dinnertime here, and I am beginning to doze off from being up so late last night. I think I'm going to grab a bit of a nap and see if things work better once I'm away from the computer, as they so often do.

Well, at least it's a place that wasn't on-camera - as you noted, that gives a lot more leeway in what you end up with as the final result. We have a place near here that is a replica of a 50s-60s era nightclub right down to velvet hangings on the walls, glitter spackle on the ceiling and swag lamps. People are encouraged to dress for the time and the live entertainment mimics famous singers of that era as well, very cool.
