Wait - what? Ending already? But I'm not done! ;-)
Tweaking a bit of dialogue - I'm finding it helps to read some of this out loud, makes it clearer whether or not the 'speaking voice' sounds like something a person would really say.
Well, Google Images turned up a couple of '60s-era photos of nightclub singers in situ, so to speak... I think I have the basic atmosphere a little clearer now, though getting the particular room layout clear in my head is going to require some rough "blueprints" and POV sketches. At least I have the maps of UNCLE HQ from the mfu_canteen archives to be going on with.
(Silly MacGyverling... the part I actually need to lay out the action is the room itself, the tables, stage, and dance floor, but the part my brain's really interested in is the support network - where's the kitchen, the fire exit, the janitor's closet, the fuse box? *rolls eyes at self*)
It would, probably, if I knew which movies to watch. But the big problem... well, I have two problems. One, I originally had the party set in the cafeteria before moving things to the nightclub, and my brain doesn't want to make the switch. Two, not only are the fan-created "blueprints" I have extremely vague, they weren't really made by someone who was thinking about traffic flow logistics.
I suspect I shall wind up taking the room dimensions and door placement from those blueprints, and creating my own layout for this nightclub. As it was never seen onscreen in the show, I don't have to worry about canon consistency...
(Darnit, I wish I could draw a bit better - I'd illustrate the darn thing! But my drawing skills are really best suited to blueprints.)
Hoorah for Google images - what a time saver they are. I'm old enough to remember having to hunt through books in a library, so I really appreciate it.
