I had my breakfast and petted the cat. (And refilled his water bowl, but he made it clear that was much less interesting than pettings.) And read me some Kipling while I ate. And now I am trying to wake up. ;-)
It's a rainy morning here in southern Kentucky, and my husband is asleep on the couch, so I can't make noise (well, I could, but that would be mean), and it's too dark in the house yet to work on painting the furniture. So, I've made coffee and eaten leftover pancakes from yesterday and futzed about reading my flist and now I'm going to see if I can get into writing headspace.
A desk that my husband and his father made when my husband was a boy. (it's out of plywood), and a little table that serves as an end table or bedside table or as a little kid's table. I'm redoing bedrooms upstairs and I'm painting these things shades of green to match or complement the painted part of the rooms. (well, I've got to mud the drywall and paint it, too, in two bedrooms) Also, I'll be painting a closet door green.
I'm making myself a sewing and craft area in one of the bedrooms and I'll use the desk for that.
I'm going to use some paint I bought when I redid the other upstairs bedroom a couple of years ago. I think it's satin acrylic. I mudded over all of the drywall in that room (it never had been painted, but I let my girls put up posters with this sticky stuff that wasn't supposed to leave any marks when you took it down. They lied. It was impossible to sand it smooth, so I went with making it look like it was plaster instead. It worked great that way. Then after the primer coat, I did a base coat of medium green, and then used a patterned leaf roller and used three other shades of green to make it look like leaves caught in sunlight. It works really well, partly because we live in the woods and when you look out the windows in that room you're looking at trees and leaves and it's almost like the outside is on the inside. The bottom half of most of the walls is made from poplar wood, so that helps with the woods kind of look.
Anyway, I'm going to take a look at the many cans of paint I have and paint the furniture with it, mostly medium to light shades of green. (just one color per piece of furniture -- it'll complement the walls when I'm done with them. I'm not going to be as elaborate with the other two bedrooms, probably just do a base coat and then sponge it or use the leaf roller again, (if I can find it).
Sounds like you did a major redecorating job with yours. Sounds like a South West kind of color scheme.

That was probably TMI.
