Round 37, Hour 6
Jan. 11th, 2013 10:00 pmOh fic-rushers!!! It sounds like there is wonderful editing and writing and procrastinating going on in the world of fic-rush. I myself am procrastinating by watching old Star Trek Next Generation episodes. Isn't it amazing to return to something you haven't seen or read in more than a decade and relearn how much you love it!
Hope you're all doing well, let us know!

Date: 2013-01-12 05:12 am (UTC)On a side note, I just recently started watching Star Trek Next Generation. I'm not sure how I feel about it though. I'm hoping it turns out to be good :D Tell me it does cause I've seen Voyager, Enterprise, and some of Deep Space Nine and I loved those but I'm not sure how I feel about it and that usually turns me off a show.

Date: 2013-01-12 05:22 am (UTC)I actually watched Next Generation as a fairly young child, so that might influence my feelings on it. As I'm watching eps of it now, I think parts are a little overacted, but overall it's a pretty solid show. I think by season 3 they really get into the swing of it. Patrick Stewart is incredible though, he has such presence. And Michael Dorn and Levar Burton. There are moments that are just perfect.
I love Voyager and Deep Space Nine. DS9 took me watching the whole series in order to really love it, because they do such long plot arcs, but I love it so much.

Date: 2013-01-12 06:52 am (UTC)Those first couple seasons, though... well! I link this not because I wrote it, but because people told me it was helping them get through those seasons: Past Lives and Propaganda (http://archiveofourown.org/works/302201). (self-pimpage warning) It's a DS9 fic, Kira+Jadzia mostly, with minor references to a late-third-season ep of DS9 but shouldn't be spoilery. 775 words.

Date: 2013-01-12 02:00 pm (UTC)Those growing pains are part of what made the later shows good. Hang in there!
BTW, Wil Wheaton did a set of hilarious "reviews" of some of the worst of the S1 episodes. (Years later, of course, after he'd become a really good writer himself.) The reviews are much better than the episodes were!
