Round 35, Hour 14
Nov. 25th, 2012 12:03 amOk this is my last hour :D How do I know this? Cause it's midnight Sunday morning in Australia whether or not a mod shows up I'm going to bed otherwise I won't be able to function tomorrow :D So with that in mind talk with each other in the comments and have a wonderful day/night of reading. Hopefully with a lot of support from each other :D
So for my last hour of Saturday (I guess technically it's my first hour of Sunday :D) How did the writing go? And goodnight :D

Date: 2012-11-24 01:23 pm (UTC)Also I have cleared away some Stuff I Was Tripping Over, and also phoned my mum. Only my littlest sister (I mean, she's twenty, just little compared to the rest of us) answered the phone and promised to pass on the message, so I still don't know if / when I need to be at home or not.
But now I am very tired and I think I'm going back to bed. Zzzzz.

Date: 2012-11-24 03:41 pm (UTC)Knife pleats are not pleats with a knife edge: they are pleats that all point in the same direction, whether it's right or left. Box pleats form a box and show more of the tartan at a time. Both create a 3:1 fullness ratio and are used in kilts, although
box pleats are the standard for the modern tailored kiltwhoops, I'm behind the times again -- knife pleats have become much more common. This website has one of the best rundowns of the differences I've ever seen (apparently modern styles of building a knife-pleated kilt stack the pleats in back and use more yardage):Picture of box pleated and knife pleated kilts

Date: 2012-11-24 06:12 pm (UTC)My kilt is knife-pleated, because that's the kind I'd seen, even in replica fileadh mor styles. *iz apparently yung* Also because knife pleats are less confusing to make, for me. It doesn't have stacked pleats in the back, though, because I had barely enough yardage to go all the way round me at the 3:1 ratio and (it being planned as a wrap kilt anyway, with highly inauthentic velcro :D) had to cheat an apron on at the end.
*adjusts Platonic ideal form to tartan having a lot of just plain "pleats" in, which I thought of saying in the first place o_O* *typos "place" as "pleace"*
In other news, the word "pleat" no longer looks like a word after reading that website. ;-)
