Round 35, Hour -4
Nov. 23rd, 2012 08:19 pmWhoops, I'm sorry, I nearly forgot! (I was trying to find out what happened in my WWII series that stopped in 1943, damn the thing).
Anyway, I trust it was a productive hour and an extra bit?
This is my final hour!
Er. On fic_rush, not my Final Hour.

We won. :D
It has been a productive couple of hours for me, as you've seen. Not in writing terms, unfortunately.

Date: 2012-11-23 08:33 pm (UTC)Well, I suppose I deserved that! But did Claire ever recover from her depression? Did Clive survive? What happened to Helen, Philip and Olive? Did Major Richter survive or did either the Gestapo or the Allies get him? What about Friedel and Kluge? And did Reinicke get what was coming to him in the end?
FEELINGS, as they say on Tumblr, ALL THE FEELINGS. I now want fic where Richter and Martel meet up again after the war and have a really awkward, subtly played out philosophical reunion that Alfred Burke and Bernard Horsfall would have done so well. I was really hoping that would happen at the end.
(Sorry. I might be slightly obsessed with this at this minute.)

Date: 2012-11-23 09:02 pm (UTC)It has Simon Cadell from Hi-de-Hi as the SS guy, also Bernard Horsfall and Alfred Burke as the main characters. And everybody ever guest-starring as per usual.

I think it was like the rules or something in those days. ;)

Date: 2012-11-23 09:28 pm (UTC)Yes, John Nettles, Martin Jarvis, Anthony Head, various EastEnders, Joss Ackland, I forget, I watched it too quickly.
Also they tied David Gwillim to a post and executed him. I mean, I expect not really, but it was distressing. (It's just as well David Collings managed not to be in this, they'd have done something really horrible to him.) (
That's my tired ramblings on old TV for you today.

Date: 2012-11-24 08:48 pm (UTC)It would certainly take method acting to a terrifying new level. But yes, it sounds like another good'un, and as you say, so many of them in those days.

Date: 2012-11-24 09:01 pm (UTC)(I might still be upset about this.)
And, yes, I'm fairly sure this was a little before Henry V and so he must have survived.
