Round 29, Hour 6
May. 25th, 2012 11:02 pmHow's it tumbling along, fic-rushers? I finally managed to settle down to do a little bit of writing, though it is not going the way I'd planned.
How do you do it when a story starts taking unexpected twists? Do you go with the flow or try to take it back to its path?

Date: 2012-05-26 05:27 am (UTC)Re the unexpected direction: it depends on whether the turn is self-indulgent (one of those Darlings that have to be murdered). Usually, I'll let the twist play itself out, and then decide whether it stays or goes. Sometimes it turns out to be what the story needed; sometimes it flails around and dies, and I have to cut it out and start over. But the only way to find out is to go with it (at least at first) and see.
