Round 29, Hour 1
May. 25th, 2012 08:00 pmYes! Round 29 is starting! And it will be epic. Since it will be Epic, we need to start with a suitable Invocation to the Muse, right?
O for a Muse of fish, that would ascend
The brightest giraffe of invention,
A kingdom for a screen, ninjas to act
And penguins to behold the alien scene!
Then should the bonsai’d Aardvark, like itself,
Reverse the polarity of hedgehogs; and at his heels,
Typing like mad monkeys, should drabble, vid and fic
Sing for their supper.
But pardon, and gentles all,
The flat unfishlike spirits that have dared
On timey-wimey scaffolding to write
So great an epic: can this glowstick light
The tasty tropes of France?
Or may we cram
Within this forty-eight the very hours
That did unloose from time the wandering word?
O, pardon! since ten thousand drabbles may
Push wordcount to a million;
Then let us, ficcers to this great attempt,
On your imaginations do our work.
Suppose within the girdle of these screens
Is now confined the mighty internet,
Whose half-uplofty and unbuttoned front
The garrulous narrow-minded fill with blunders.
Feast now on the perfection of your thoughts:
Into a thousand words divide one zero
And make imaginary numbers;
Think when we talk of cookies, that you taste them
Crunched with coffee i’ the receiving cup;
For 'tis your pasta must now feed our hordes,
Writerly as it is; researching stuff,
Turning the nemesis of anyyear season
Into a plot bunny.
To better this supply,
Admit me Mod unto this gathering.
Now fangirl-like your LJ comm sits back,
Swiftly to write, gladly to read, our crack.
Note: this is really all the fault of

Date: 2012-05-26 12:12 am (UTC)That was glorious. But how will we top it? I have the house to myself, a large amount of caffeine, and some wandering plot bunnies to corral.
I really need to do some research as in actually reading a non-fiction book. And I need to do some work around an image that popped into my head, to see if it's usable for something now, or just worth parking for later artistic verisimilitude.

Date: 2012-05-26 12:25 am (UTC)Best of luck with your empty house and your caffeine! I'm sure you can wrangle those bunnies, given the clear advantage!
For my part, I actually have a couple of small projects to do as well as my Big Ongoing Opus. I hope for epic efforts.

Date: 2012-05-26 12:16 am (UTC)I am here for less than an hour, then away for the rest of the night. However, I am no longer going to my Thing That Was Going to Take Me Away All Day Tomorrow, so I may drop in! I may even get some writing done! Hopefully I will also get some work done, as I am way behind on that.
Happy fic_rush to all!

Date: 2012-05-26 12:46 am (UTC)My eyes are blue,
Well, my eyes are red,
from allergies, too.
My daughter is here,
Her boyfriend came too.
We'll all drink a beer,
for her birthday this year.
And also rejoice,
and marvel to see,
just how big her belly
at eight months preggers can be.
I bring you these tidings
to explain a few things.
They were coming next week
but those plans they did fling.
The house is a wreck,
It's mistress is, too.
I've walked in the heat
five miles whoop-do-do.
A party of some sort
must now be arranged.
How I wish I had magic,
but instead most make do
with tried and true dishes
that will take up my time
so I don't think I'll be
up to writing this time.
But maybe, forsooth,
a chance might arrive,
They go home on Sunday,
for their last birthing class.
So I will sneak by
whenever I can,
to wish you all luck
with the writing toucans.

This sounds as though I need to write time-related fic. Well, DW, S&S or Primeval! No problem. :-)
