I accidentally wrote an essay on POV? O_O I'm trying to tidy it up now and probably post it on my journal.

205 words, 3 out of Five Things written. I might switch to something else while I let my brain ponder what the other 2 Things should be...

About 200 words worth of 1, but 3 would be totally awesome!

I have almost finished my self-assigned reading. Interrupted by householders trying to complete a home repair project. Now... writing?

Could you tell me, which one is correct, 'a while' or 'awhile'?
Or are they two different meanings/usages?

*Tries to press all the buttons at once and gets a confused noise from the internet-phone and giraffes pour through the door and devour everything*...

Well, I just finished sending a list of Harry Potter fic recommendations to one of my former university professors (she is so awesome), so now I'm going to get dressed and hopefully sit down to write.

Thank you, I have to think about that sentence for a while :D
My spell checker keeps blue-lining 'awhile', separated it looks better (not that it means much in grammar :P)

I think either can be correct, although my own very strong preference is for "a while". There is a distinction when it's actually part of a prepositional phrase, rather than an adverb:

"When “awhile” is spelled as a single word, it is an adverb meaning “for a time” (“stay awhile”); but when “while” is the object of a prepositional phrase, like “Lend me your monkey wrench for a while” the “while” must be separated from the “a.” (But if the preposition “for” were lacking in this sentence, “awhile” could be used in this way: “Lend me your monkey wrench awhile.”)

My preference for 'a while' probably stems partly from the fact that it's never wrong. 'Awhile' can be an error, or it can be correct.

ETA: Here's another, very good summary:
USAGE NOTE Awhile, an adverb, is never preceded by a preposition such as for, but the two-word form a while may be preceded by a preposition. In writing, each of the following is acceptable: 'stay awhile'; 'stay for a while'; 'stay a while' (but not 'stay for awhile').

Well, I will be doing laundry for a while. I'll stay awhile in the back room, where the clean laundry pile is growing up to the ceiling.

I did uh, well, I forget how many words I did at the last checkin, and I think I missed one, but I'm currently at 1051 words since I started this morning.
