We have reached the hour of symmetry. All things are 23. There are 23 Time Chickens watching you from the corner. You can't see them because they're invisible, but they are after the 23 ninja penguins on the front lawn. Fortunately, they and the penguins are distracted by the 23 alien fish in the bathtub. (You didn't know you have 23 alien fish in your bathtub?)

Your goal for this hour is to write at least 23 words. Ready, set, go!

Opened a document I haven't touched in a while, realized the protagonist's surname is the same as my sister-out-law's. Fatal error? Protagonist is a tiny bit of a cold-blooded killer.

She's only an outlaw because she's not married to my brother - she's otherwise perfectly lovely. They've been together 16 years or so. I started writing the story last year. My brain apparently just hates me! Find and replace throughout it is.

Which is funny because I already had to do one re-write including some find-and-replacing because the protagonist used to be male and then it became very clear the story wasn't working because I couldn't write that character.

Now I just need a nice plain WASPy name to do the replace with!

WASPy first name or surname? Which part of the country?

Surname, Boston, and her middle name is already Lowell, so I don't want to dip too much into the pool of classic Boston surnames.

A fast, slightly filtered pull from a geneology site; basically, a run through the top 2000 names, pulling out anything that sounds like someone who might have lived next door to my grandparents.

Cooper
Brooks
Morris
Perry
Sanders
Hayes
Woods
Boyd
Hunt
Gardner
Watkins
Cowan
Rankin
Hartley
Shea
Kendrick
Pearce
Crowe

ETA to cut three names that are too close to 'Lowell' for euphony (although not for comic effect).

Fantastic! I'll definitely be able to pick one from this list, thank you. I always love the lists of popular boys' and girls' names by year for picking age appropriate character first names.
