I actually did write 2000 words this morning! I woke up, played the scene I thought about last night in my head, went "oh!" and went to write it. But now I must travel back to my conference.... :(

Hey, welcome to PST! How are you liking the time zone so far? Pretty good? I like the way each hour is 60 minutes long. I'm not sold on the existence of hours between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m., but I'm learning to tolerate them.

*Grin* Thanks. The clothes were all rescued from where they were perilously waiting in the dryer, where any number of my siblings could have come along and removed them. Laundry is a dangerous task around here.

Even worse, your laundry might have been attacked by Time Chickens. You'd have returned to find half of it transformed into 1750's era unmentionables, and the rest somehow swapped with 1970's polyester. It can get very bad indeed.

Once stories are moving, I find that it's easier to wrangle them in a certain direction. Although it's also fun to just let them lead you to where they want to go.

My approach to computer stuff is to push buttons until things work. Or not. Programming your story to behave itself seems so much cooler than the way I just jab at mine.
