No-one seems to be stuck in traffic, although some of us are stuck in our writing. Anyone want a stick? A glowstick? Sticky tape? A sticking plaster? Or will you stick to it regardless?
I just got done with winding down after work, and am fortified by two different types of rum.
This weekend I have a short story that needs banging out, and we'll see what else - an ending to a long delayed crossover, probably. I hope.
I think right now that the part of the short story I am writing will occur after the story ends, but I need to know what goes down for myself, because it has a lot to do with a minor character who appears mostly off-stage and why he wanted to marry the protagonist in the first place. I have a hard time writing about people who were raised to have fairly conventional expectations about life. Character has a job and it's in the field he always intended to work in. What is that!? So weird.
I totally wrote a short piece in which MY boy scout said screw it, got really hammered, and started a bar fight.
"No, Ray, when I do a thing, I do it right." Benton insisted. Then he leaned over to a man at the table behind him and said: "Excuse me, but my friend here just wanted to express to you that he finds the way that your mother prepares breakfast to be most satisfactory."
"Huh?" The man at the table, who was both large and inebriated, said.
Ray started to translate Benton-to-English by force of habit when he realized what he was saying. "Oh, shit." he said, ducking as the drunken man stood up, picked up his chair and swung it at Ray.
It was a very satisfying story to write. I expected to be called on going ooc but apparently a lot of people want to get Fraser really drunk and take advantage.
Ah. New as an icon, not one of the ones that you iconified months ago and I just didn't notice (which is what I was trying, somewhat tangledly, to ask).
*makes note to poke through the icon gallery sometime when I am not writing*
A few scattered bottles of Leinenkugel still lurk in the fridge. There's half a bottle of Oktoberfest left. Or would you prefer Classic Amber? It's just hard liquor I'm all out of.
Heh. I did a lot of invasive species removal as part of the trailbuilding work back in Washington . . . I referred to it as 'killing aliens in the woods'.

Date: 2011-11-19 03:41 am (UTC)I'm at about 353 words right now. Had a minor mental flop, but I'm slowly reving up for a little bit.
I think I'm going to try to write this section and then go back to sleep. I write better when I'm not utterly exhausted. Work week from hell!
