Good morning! It is still morning here, barely. I made up for Friday night's insomnia by getting ten hours of sleep last night. I guess I have to call that a good thing, even if it does interfere with fic_rush.
I probably won't get anything done this hour, but I'll be around. :-)
Okay, I haven't made a pot yet because I'm drinking the leftover hot chocolate I made last night. No actual writing was done last hour, but while washing the dishes and cooking breakfast I did think a lot about how annoying it is to try and get big bang stories all ready on LJ (or DW) so all you have to do is change from private to public, but it doesn't behave the way I want it to. Alas, all my research on how to make it show up on your friend's list on your posting date, instead of way,way back when you actually wrote the post, has been futile.
If anybody knows the magic spell to make it show up when I want it to on the friends list, and not three weeks ago when I wrote it, please feel free to enlighten me.
I shall now start editing and guzzling hot chocolate.
I make my hot chocolate with 40 calorie almond milk, plus the usual chocolate and sugar. So good, and I feel virtuous for using the tasty low cal stuff. At night, I dribble in some whiskey. Yum.
As far as I know, there's no way to get the post to appear using the 'as of' date rather than the actual date of posting. I assume the post has to be done in advance to take a place in a queue?
The only workaround I know is one I used for the Stargate Friendathon earlier this summer:
- Fulfill the posting requirements by creating a placeholder post, set to private. This will hold the spot in the queue. It can either hold the fic, or hold a line saying 'click here to read the story'.
- When the reveal date occurs, post the actual fic on your journal, in a new post.
- Then edit the placeholder so that it links to the actual fic post you just created. If you originally put the fic in this post, remove it; all you want is a line saying 'click here for the story' (plus any headers required by the mods or whoever). Reset this post from private to public.
The new post appears on your flist, and the placeholder points to it.
Guess that's what I'll do, although I hate to make people click twice to actually get to the story. I'll put the actual story or artwork/fanmix on the private post earlier, then make the link public before the master post goes live, and change it to the place holder one as soon as I can, reposting the actual story or fanmix so it shows up in the friends list at a current time, not a month earlier.
Terrified screaming lizard priest is just the only logical response to some things. Including, apparently, Hour 41. It's a pretty giggle-worthy book cover.
I managed to type up the last few lines of my bad, plotless ficlet (somewhere about 240 words, but there were some old ones in there, too). So now that only needs tweaking.
So I'm going to see about dinner presently. Good luck to those still writing! Don't worry - not long till Hour 42, which holds the key to life, the universe, and everything.
Well, I've done reading through the back fic_rush posts anyway... now I have to write a speech today (it's due tomorrow), make a bibliography, and copy out the quotes I'm going to use onto index cards.
Also do about a bazillion other things. *sticks head in sand*
I just can't see to get in gear today. But I did write one paragraph last hour. This hour... more research? But on a totally different topic from yesterday. Think I'm done with the witchesbigbang for a bit.
This is a side-community for fic_rush, where we post our hourly posts during rounds. If you've wandered in here by accident, you'll want to go there instead.
If you're with fic_rush and have just shown up, look for most recent hourly post.
