I spent the last hour helping to write discussion questions for the ds9_rewatch comm! :D Nothing to do with my story directly, but there are all sorts of asexuality and gender issues in "The Forsaken", so it's sort of related... I guess? ;-) And I may have been at least partially responsible for four out of five questions (five of six if you count the emus) (I don't know for sure till the questions are posted), so that's - I'm a bit chuffed. Yes.

Now I have about an hour to get started on these 1600 words for today's goal... what scene did you want to do today, boys? :-)

1600 words is tough but fair! (I have a couple of NaNoWriMos under my belt so I know of your suffering.) Very interesting about the asexuality/gender issues in DS9. I haven't watched any of it since it first aired.

It's... a good show. (I think it's the best Trek, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.) Extremely well-written and complex, with a darker take on the Federation than the other Treks, and simultaneously a whole lot of really fun humor and great acting.

The discussion comm is full of people with interest in gender/sexuality stuff, so we wind up with some Pretty Awesome Chatter even from the faily eps (which this week's one mostly is. Although Majel Barrett and René Auberjonois are JUST AWESOME ENOUGH to salvage the ending.)

Well. TOS is TOS. But of the later ones, I definitely liked DS9 best for the reasons you stated. Really liked the not so shiny happy take on things.

Well, TOS is My Trek, but I mock it too mercilessly to say it's the best Trek. But it is, as you say, TOS. *g*

The rewatch is still on S1 if you'd like to join in - we're doing one ep a week, and there are multiple live chats every Sunday/first few days of the week. And discussion chatter posts.

I'd love to, but I'm actually behind on the current seasons of things I should be watching because I'm in the middle of writing fic about them. I'll think about it for sure!

Got about 300 words done on the fic I was working on last night; now off to do some chores and let the rest of it rattle around until it settles into a workable configuration. Probably won't be done today, but at least it's well on the way. Woot!
