Importing my stuff to Dreamwidth, JIC, and back from my nephew's birthday party. I played softball with my niece and, like, I swear I only stopped playing the sport a year ago after like 12 or 13 years of playing, but my BACK hurts and my arm just might fall off and I'm a little exhausted.

So. Anyway. I'm WRITING. This effin' chapter just hit 37K. No one's going to read my big bang. *hangs head* Whatever. Hope to finish this chapter--just this long scene to finish, two short scenes, and a small to medium length scene--to go!! :'D

I wish I wasn't poor. I need tequila.

I don't mind at all! :D It's for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. For the Supernatural fandom though my fic is RPS AU. It's at about... 150K? 160K? now. Annnnd. About half way done. And the deadline for the rough draft you ask? May 1. I shouldn't have written so many other fics while I was writing this big bang.

LOL sorry for going all emo. I always get like this when I'm close to the end but it FEELS like the chapter will never end, much less the fic. XD

If I don't get distracted by other bunnies, I can actually swing these 37K-40K chapters in a week if I focus. I've done it before, anyway. This one's taken two weeks because I hit a bit of a writer's block in it (which really means I got distracted and wrote three other shorter fics because they caallllleeed to me! /o/).

I'm actually free writing and trying not to think about the ways that I'm messing up right now and praying that me and my betas will be able to make something of it in the edit. Also, the original bunny is actually from my fic spouse [livejournal.com profile] imogen_lily and we sketched out the overarching plot ages ago. And so, before I go into a new chapter I send her an email of the main plot points and she comes back with ideas that kind of fill in the gaps, events or character appearances. So really I don't have to think about scenes or where the fic is going while I write, just kind of shading in the sketch we make before every chapter, yanno? It's kind of easy that way, really. :P And the sheer length is probably because I'm new to writing multi chaptered fics/Spn fandom in general. Yanno, inexperience or something? Anyway. XD Sorry. In a talkative mood. Should probably transfer that to my fic. :)

Heey! You're back! Sorry for your back, but I'm sure some writing will improve everything :D

WOW! 37K! What is your bb about that you've got such a long story? I'm chewing my nails to read it now... I'm beyond curious!

From: [identity profile] insertcode11.livejournal.com
LOL! I do hope you read it. My betas tell me that it's good and while it's sloppy right now I do enjoy writing it.

Uhmm. Yanno? Not a very complicated plot, actually. Greek gods. Modern day. A stupidly huge cast. Apollo!Jensen and cursed!human!Jared?

Honestly, I started this in January thinking I would be done with it in February as a 20K/2-part story for Valentine's Day. I was supposed to do another fic (gypsy!Jared) for big bang. *laughs at herself* Oooooh, how silly and naive I was. 150K later on the "short Valentine's Day fic"... XD

I WILL! You've got me even more curious now! *chews nails*

Yeah, you created a little monster with its own life form! Well, at least it's not an alien and it's gonna be totally cooler then the french penguins :D I'm sure it's gonna be very good!

Okay, I'm back and ready to start working on my fic again! I have more ideas for the plot, except I'm now worried that MFU may have done something similar in an actual episode. So I am reading through the episode guide to check.

I can answer that! The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

I suppose that was my first "fandom", since I was spending my allowance on the paperback books. *g*

If you're talking about the original broadcast, that was before my time too. I was hooked through re-runs. Nowadays, though, you just have to rent the DVDs. :D

MFU was my intro to "adult" prime time shows. It was on past my normal bedtime, but I first saw it in a motel room on a family vacation. It was the ep with Kurt Russell. :-)

I still have all my paperbacks. First loves never die.

Ooooh! Trigun was one of my firsts (Gundam Wing was actually my first fandom, but Trigun was second) and is still very dear to my heart. I just recently sold my Trigun DVDs to someone else and so what if I bawled over it for a day or two? ;_;

Here's a lovely bit of trivia: David McDaniel, who wrote the best of the MfU books, was a fanboy who got TPTB to sign him on as one of their novelists! Probably the first fanfic writer to get to pro status! (Unless you count the classical Greek poets and playwrights and their ilk.)

ETA: It was on way after my bedtime too, but I think Illya was my first serious fangirl crush (well, along with Carolyn Jones, aka Morticia Addams).

The Vampire Affair was my all-time favorite novel! I thought when I saw his name that he would turn out to have been one of my faves.

I was Napoleon Solo. When I wasn't busy being Batman. Or Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer. So possibly I had a crush on him, although I really can't remember. :-D

Wasn't there some Star Trek (TOS) episode that was based on a story treatment a fan sent in? I sort of vaguely remember hearing that somewhere, but I can't tell you which episode (or if I'm remembering correctly).

Not TOS that I know of. But Adric, of course, is a genuine and true Mary Sue, the script having been written by a teenaged boy.

I think I remember hearing that too... can't remember any details, though. (Good gosh, I've been out of TOS fandom for way too long!) I should re-read "Inside Star Trek" at some point - fantastic book.

Sorry, Man from U.N.C.L.E. That's the fandom I'm writing. It's for a [community profile] help_japan request, and I've never written it before. I do love it and even own some of the episodes -- as in, went out and spent money to buy them -- but I'm not completely up on everything that happened during the whole run of the show.

I think you can safely assume that MfU did something similar, because they did a lot of similar things generally. But you can always do something new with it. (Simply being less cheesy* than the original is a nice thing!)

*And I speak as one who writes mostly for a very cheesy fandom!

But as I was working through the plot, I couldn't get over the feeling that I'd seen it in an episode. And, I found it! At least, I found the episode I'd been thinking of. So now I can proceed with my fic's plot and differentiate it from that episode (although yes, if I continue on with this idea, there will be similarities).

I know the feeling. *g* (Sometimes it even happens to me with my own fic - "hey, didn't I write this before? Oh. Didn't actually write it down in that other fandom. Well, okay then!" LOL)
