Went from writing the DoMayStic prompts to editing a bunch of chapters I've had finished for a bit. Not the progress I meant to do today, but well done progress nonetheless!
same problems as last hour only we've moved on to the phrase "bubblegum pink"
which, the speaker has much better English than the PoV character and much greater familiarity with fashion design (context isn't that but I assume he knows a lot more color words than almost any other character in this show) and is picking colors for a gift for someone who he knows likes pink, some time after a meet-cute involving bubble gum, and I have every reason to believe the PoV character he's addressing knows the English phrase "bubblegum pop" even if he probably doesn't yet know (and may never care) that chewing gum vs bubble gum is not a distinction his native French makes, and also I don't want anything but the repetition of the word "bubblegum" to cue readers to pay attention to the word and to what things the word is connecting! also most of what the other speaker is saying is going over the PoV character's head anyway, and either he knows the English word "pink" and can therefore infer what bubblegum pink is or the sounds he's hearing are like "rose bubblegum" and he can still infer what color it's a shade of, and either way he's not going to give more thought to the phrase than the time it takes to hear it
