We have Time Chicken and Rush Penguin.  We have glowsticks and cookies.  Hopefully, we have words appearing on pages.

It must be time for the drinking games to start.

100 words = 1 drink
200 words = 1 drink
300 words = 1 drink
any amount of words that's good progress for you = 1 drink

Drinks need not be alcoholic.  Drinks can be banked for drinking after you've finished writing.  Drinks need not be drinks.

Drinks should not be given to the penguins; they don't hold their liquor well.

I'm not sure where I stopped last time so I'm not sure if I got 1K written or not. I did, however, finish a scene and started another! :D Food, now!

So. What's up with the penguins and glowsticks? Or does newbie not get in on the inside joke? D:

We have a tendency to toss around ridiculous running jokes; some last for a round or two (poisoned confetti, singing Sontarans), some linger for several rounds (alien fish), some seem to have become permanent (penguins and glowsticks).

The drinking games and the Time Chicken are new as of this round.

The glowsticks are also a writing tool: you crack a glowstick and write for as long as the glow lasts. studyofrunning, the founder of this comm, introduced the technique to us. (And then the penguins got hold of it.)

In the last few hours of a round, when we're all punch-drunk and sleep-deprived, we've developed an informal tradition of writing cracky commentfic, usually pitting our pet fandoms against the Running Joke of the Day. The first round that this happened, we had the Doctor (several different editions) and MacGyver coping with glowstick-wielding penguins. The Man from Uncle and Stargate characters have also made appearances. The crackfic gets posted to the comment threads here, and then linked up in the round-up post at the end of the round.
