Also why can I not find a way to simulate a launch and then observe Earth from that which is launched that's got less of a learning curve?

(my mlbigbang fic involves stranding someone in outer space for a couple months, with approximately no question about his ability to survive provided he does not choose to ditch his magic spacesuit, but without navigation or propulsion or communications or anything that might help him get home safely. without any communications, as far as he can tell; there will be at least one "in space no one can hear you scream" joke, much to the dismay of the person who is screwing up her sleep schedule and abandoning almost everything else of her life because he's effectively screaming in her ear and she can't bear to miss a word, which she will certainly do if she ditches her magic suit at a time when he's talking. and right now I am working on how to strand him.)
