Got so busy reading fic_rush comments there, I almost forgot that it's time for a new post! So, how are things this hour?

I took your advice and have been working on my off-again-on-again orig!fic. (Well, it started as a writing exercise in filing off some characters' backstories and trying to work out new ones, but by now it's a proper orig!fic. Even has half of a plot going.)

Currently I'm trying to decide whether one of my characters is human or alien. Most of his scenes are way easier to write if he's humanoid, but I'd really like to have somebody non-bipedal on my team of four. *sigh*

I'm in awe of people who write original fic. I haven't even tried in ages. I'm glad you're back to it.

As for your character, you can always try writing him/her/it both ways and see what happens.

*considers that* Or... I could try making this guy humanoid (I've got two different scenes where he really needs to be) and change the least defined member of the team to be some other sort of alien. He wasn't working out as a gargoyle anyway since the sphinx/griffin took over the wings shtick.

I haven't written original fic since I was nineteen, and although I got paid for that piece, it was really cringeworthy. Still and all, it's worth trying again.

I think I'm going to leave the Internet lab and go home, since most of the early paper scribbling on this story is filed there and I'm to the point where I need to do a full revision and streamline my concept. Thanks for the help with the character design! See you in the morning!

Ah, laundry. I always get all kinds of chores done when I'm trying to write. Funny how it works out that way.

Yup. I spent part of today drilling holes in a bookcase so the shelves will go back in where we want them to go, instead of where the store thought they should. No wonder it took Daniel so long to show up in my story.

Hello! I think I'll dive in for the rest of this hour, at least, working on the WIP I added 700-odd words to last night.
