so yesterday's words sent the story off outline in at least two ways, I spotted the second this morning

and I have resolved the question over whether to do the scene with the grandmotherly OC in this chapter or a later chapter! if she returns the hat several scenes from now instead of now, you see, that can be used to explain how my lead will then have the pin, without admitting to that my lead currently has the pin. since the pin's last known location that wasn't my lead's pocket is, gone missing during the same five minutes in which he misplaced the hat.

it isn't that I've misplaced any props. it's that for entirely understandable reasons, Adrien's hat ended up on the floor, and at about the same time—and Adrien obviously had nothing to do with this, Nathalie, nothing whatsoever, why would you ask—a pin of considerable importance went missing. the OC was going to return the hat anyway, and she has not seen and will not see the pin, but Adrien can claim she brought him the pin at the same time she brought him the hat, and therefore avoid suspicion in the matter of having stolen the pin in the first place.
