Round 13, Hour 1
Jan. 21st, 2011 07:00 pmWelcome to
fic_rush! Did you bring a silly hat? Cookies? Marmalade?
If you're new here, help yourself to a glowstick, then please introduce yourself and tell everyone what you're writing, so we can cheer you on!
If you're not new here, then please introduce yourself and tell everyone what you're writing, so we can all cheer each other on!
If you're a passing zombie, can you lend me a hand?

Date: 2011-01-22 12:03 am (UTC)Yo. Someone double dog dared me to write something so that'll be my little warm-up. Meanwhile, I need to finish a MfU/Dangerman crossover, make any progress at all on a Due South/MacGyver cross-over, and even freaking open the file of my original fic novella that is in revision.

Date: 2011-01-22 12:09 am (UTC)Um... I'm Curuchamion, Curu for short. Y'all probably know me unless this turns into Unexpected New People Night again. This month I'm working on:
* a TNG/Legend crossover ficlet featuring double John de Lancie
* a massive Captain America origin AU that's been stalled for years (I just discovered the actor who has his face and am finding characterization much easier, although the plot is still somewhat nebulous)
* the usual multi-fandom orig!fic (the guys are currently one human, two aliens, and one I-haven't-decided-yet)
* possibly something involving my new fandom The Middleman, which is a one-season TV show strangely reminiscent of the 'rush (I seriously just finished watching the alien fish episode)
* possibly something involving J'onn Jon'zz of the Justice League, for no reason I can fathom.
Of course there are also all my other half-finished whatnots to consider. Maybe I can actually finish something this time? ;-)

Date: 2011-01-22 12:14 am (UTC)For all newbies I'm Don *waves* and today I plan to finish a WIP that I haven't touched in a year but if that doesn't work there are several other WIPs I can work on but first I want to finish a one shot I started yesterday.
And for anyone who wants to know I picked a blue glow stick :P

Date: 2011-01-22 12:19 am (UTC)I'm going to be trying to make serious headway in a challenge fic for
The deadline is February 1st and I haven't been doing very well at word count lately, so I have very real hopes that this weekend will be a turning point!

Date: 2011-01-22 12:21 am (UTC)*picks green glow-stick and whittles the end of it into a nice quill-tip*
I'm dusting off a handful of half-finished WIPs and checking them for any signs of life - if there's a pulse to be had, I shall entertain hopes of sending at least one of them shambling out into the world by spring. At the very least, perhaps I can manage a few drabbles, I feel woefully out of practice.
Carry on!

Date: 2011-01-22 12:24 am (UTC)When I was a boy, we didn't worry much about the latest fashions. A good pair of jeans and a flannel shirt and I was good to go. If you couldn't wash dust and grease out of it, there wasn't much point. I can't say I've changed that much. I don't know a whole lot about clothes but I know what I like, and this, I didn't like. But you do what you have to do to get the job done.
"Now you will look like one of the professors, da!" Sveta said, tugging the long-line burnt orange sweater vest with the knit belt at the waist down over a pair of mustardy polyester flared trousers.
"Sure, if the professors are stuck in the '70s." MacGyver said.
"We are a simple people here in Moldavia, perhaps a little backward to your ways." Sveta lowered her eyes, fluttering. "But I think that your Levis look well on me." she added mischievously. Giving up a pair of his jeans was the price MacGyver paid for the disguise he was now wearing.
"Forgive me, but I think your hair, it will catch the eye." Sveta said, running her fingers through the unruly, feathery locks.
"I have just the thing!" she rifled through her wardrobe and produced an alarmingly large fedora.
"There!" she said, placing it on MacGyver's head. He shrugged a little uncomfortably, glancing over his shoulder. He'd never quite felt safe in loud clothing since the incident with the shirt.
"Now you know the pass-phrase. You must go to the library and say,"
"I got it," MacGyver said, "I say, "Why do you always wear black?"
"And then the librarian, she is my twin, Svana, will say 'I am miserable, I am in mourning for my life."
"And then she'll give me the volume of Chekov with the codes." MacGyver said.
"Da. Now hurry!"
Sveta watched MacGyver leave with satisfaction. That Western fool! No one had worn belted sweaters with hats for months. The Secret Police would easily catch him.

Date: 2011-01-22 12:33 am (UTC)*Unlike anything else ever, even comment fic. I have a sickness. OK, so I did look up the list of Soviet Republics to pick a funny one. But it was just one wikipedia hit for 340 words. Well below average searching.
The shirt... and the hair!
