maybe there's not a curse when the princess is born, just a pissed-off mage grandstanding, but the king believes it (and the economic impact of burning the spinning wheels is certainly convincing)

maybe the princess falling asleep at sixteen (or eighteen or twenty-one) is a different mage taking advantage of the king's misinformed belief

—maybe the princess consents to that latter mage's sleeping spell, maybe it's even her own idea, and if it's less True Love's Kiss and more that the spell was keyed to be removable by any of a specific few people…

I'm just surfacing. It's wet out today so I might not get out in the garden but I do have at least two challenges to write for so I'm expecting words at some point...

Writing is indeed an ideal wet weather pursuit. It's a lot easier to stay at my computer and write when the weather isn't calling me to go outside.
