I need a good name for a time-sensitive being who appears as a weird old woman with three eyes. She's annoyed with a paradox River caused and is forcing her in mean ways to correct it. "The being" is getting old.

And then I need to come up with a good twist for her.

Hmm. I would try Googling mythology (Greek, Roman, Persian, Egyptian, etc.), and see if any interesting time-related names come up.

A Norn, maybe? They're the Fates of Norse mythology - three old women who measure out mortal lives, or something...

I suppose the twist would be that she's getting River to make changes in accordance with some diabolical plan of her own...

I think the twist is going to be that she isn't setting things up like that, because she acts like it but actually has no idea what's going on. :)

Yeah, I think they spin thread or something...one spins it, one measures it out and the third cuts it...something like that, and well, that's how long you've got on this mortal coil. They were quite fatalistic about things like that, the Norsemen.

I remember that myth. I just heard it described vaguely by someone who didn't know what it was from, and assumed it was Greek or Roman. (All myths are Greek or Roman. I know this from Xena, and also planets.) It is pretty cool.

I'm sure there are parallels in Greco-Roman mythology - they're all ultimately descended from those Proto-Indo-Europeans or whatever, after all.
