So far we have fic_rush crack!fic for Doctor Who and Blake's 7. Anyone else want to try for more fandoms?

(Note to self: Do not dare [personal profile] thisbluespirit to write fic_rush crack!fic, because she will.)

(Further note to self: On second though, keep daring [personal profile] thisbluespirit to write fic_rush crack!fic.)

Well, last hour I was getting on really well and actually writing some of my story, but then some person dared me to write crack!fic, and the penguins finally got me.

The B7 is because if there was ever a show that might have seriously tried to get away with evil penguins (and probably succeeded) it was B7 in S4.

I shall try to tidy things up a little more, and then go to bed!

To be fair, I wasted more time making the post. And they were nice vids...

And on the actual fic count, I have sorted a structural problem, and written 301 words. :-)

There are Silurians in them there hills!

It's been great fun!

I've done 1,871 words of Eleven today, football, mealtimes etc notwithstanding... I think that's enough for today. I'm not really feeling it right now, so I think I'm going to stop now and maybe do something else for the remaining hours of the 48. Not sure what yet (resisting urge to do crack!fic... ;D).

I'd watch Downton Abbey, but I need to catch up on the previous episodes on the dreaded ITVPlayer first...

Hmm. For the Honour of the Mounties.

A phone rings.

"Ray. Ray. Ray. Ray."

"What, Fraser?"

"I, ah. That is to say, I know that you were planning on spending your day off either applying one more coat of wax to your already gleaming vehicle or perhaps stalking your ex-wife, but if I could, perhaps, request your assistance with a small matter that seems to have arisen at the Consulate?"

"Sheesh, I wasn't plannin' on stalking Stella today. I got Mondays, Wednesdays an' Fridays, the other Ray got Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Sundays, we all get together for dinner with Ma Vecchio and Francesca because they still haven't figured out that I'm the other Ray, not their Ray. You know that. And I know you know today is Saturday."

"Certainly, Ray. Every Mountie is well versed in the days of the week. However."

"However, stop clearin' your throat and hmmin' and spit it out."

"Turnbull has- that is to say - there was an incident in the kitchens - I believe he was trying to prepare Alien Fish Paté. (No, Diefenbaker, that isn't the most disgusting thing you've ever eaten, and put that bird down.) Anyway, Ray, as I was saying, we seem to have attracted some..."

"Geez, Frase, is that the sound of a horde of penguins attackin' you?"

"Rookery, Ray."

"Huh?"

"Not a horde, a rookery of penguins."

"---"

A phone is hung up unceremoniously leaving the Mountie to deal with his own damn rookery of attack penguins if he's going to be like that.

For an action/comedy show it was pretty cracktastic to start with... in its own sweet way. They lost an actor to other projects, so they just said that character had to go undercover and there was a new character with the same name who was now undercover as the first character. Only they looked totally different. The penguins are not too... ...impossible.

It's amazing the number of fandoms for which one can say that. "Oh, sure. Penguins. That could have happened on the show."

I used to love Due South when it was on in the UK - they used to show it in the mornings during school holidays etc. Great stuff - stupid, but like stupid on purpose - there should be more programmes like that, I think! :D

The original producer was in LOVE with Alfred Hitchcock and also William Shakespeare incidentally... so it was a very clever kind of stupid. It got much sillier when he left the show, but still pretty darn good. Action/comedy is probably my favourite genre though I tend to write more straight on action/angst fic for it because comedy is HARD.

A very clever kind of stupid just about sums it up for me. I very vividly remember a particulsr episode where Benton and (the original) Ray and Ray's sister got caught up in a bank robbery, and the dog had to run for miles and miles to get help from the other mountie standing outside the consulate... Good times, good times... ;D

Yes! And Ray's sister, Francesca, was busy trying to foil the robbery by being herself... which was hilarious. She's such a good comic actress.

LOL, yeah, she was like "seducing" one of the robbers, to hilarious effect... 'twas great! The other ones I really vividly remember are the ones with Leslie Nielsen guest-starring...

 Never watched Due South, but now I wish I had. Mind, I don't suppose they had actual penguins...

No penguins to my recall. There was a lovely deaf wolf (Diefenbaker, the one who didn't enjoy the alien fish pâté.) There was an incident involving a lot of Elvis impersonators being arrested at Christmas time because they were supposed to bring in a bunch of Santa's elves but got it wrong. There was a possible alien encounter but it wasn't that fishy, and there was a small but formidable naval battle. So... I don't think penguins would have been too much to ask for!

ROFLMAO! Oh man, I could actually see this play out on screen. On Due South, how I miss you so.

I miss it enough to write endless amounts of fic... oh that sweet, angsty Mountie and his crazy, angsty American buddies. It's like the best of everything. ;)

Glad you enjoyed the spot of penguins.

For non-crack content, I finished the revisions and sent the chunk of novella off to my critique buddy. Back to staring at the screen willing cross-over into existence. It's like a twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop.

I think you have to move your fingers at the same time as staring for it to work. I haven't quite worked that part out.

Having survived a frantic last-minute housecleaning for unexpected guests, I now get to try finishing some scattered transitional snippets while they practice their music for an upcoming contest - which means I also get good background music, if a bit repetitive.

It's a group of teen girls who are composing and performing their own songs for their private school's 'battle of the bands'...it's a gorgeous chorus with piano, violin and keyboard going and I'm enjoying it very much. :-)
