Well, in total this morning I wrote ~500 words, but I kind of know where I'm going and got some great advice from john_elliot on batteries so I'm putting it in the win column. I just finished working out and it's back to some serious battling with verbiage. And coffee.
Good morning, campers! *g* (I do not get to say that enough.)
I have no word count. I went to a jazz concert last night, which was rather awesome... but then my family turned up at my new apartment with a whole vanload of boxed-up junk from my old room. So I've been sorting through that, with many exclamations of "Not Want" and "Is that even mine?" and "I am quite sure I never saw that before in my life."
However, I have quite impressed myself with how very tidy-minded I am when I'm living alone and being allowed to finish a whole thought at a time. I suspect I may actually wind up with an apartment where stuff stays put away and I can find what I want. :D
Sadly, I left my "research" home because I'm only popping into the campus library for a little while to say hi. However, I have lots of WIPs... there's a new one involving Who/Trek and Casablanca that may be very interesting if only I can manage to find my fic voice again. It ran away a while ago. o_O
I wish I had your discipline with stuff... *eyes chaos of room* I have too much stuff in too small a space, I could do with the ability to actually go DO NOT NEED at things and actually get rid of them...
Good luck rediscovering/reinventing your fic voice.
Words! I wrote a hundred of them! :D (Tis a wee Stargate drabble (http://community.livejournal.com/gen_drabble/45835.html), but you know, actual fic!) Now if I could just finish one of my dozens of WiPs...
Well, I've been to the supermarket, and am back. I think I might have a go at the humour piece from last weekend (if it doesn't seem completely flat now).
The only problem with this is that I'm embarrassed by it because it's from the dw_straybunnies prompt of the month (well, sort of)... and starting to write it made me realise that this could look very wrong. It's my comm; I pick the prompts randomnly, 3rd time I picked out I picked one of mine. I thought 'oh well'. I now realise how bad and wrong this seems, if I post my prompt on my comm and I'm the only one to wirte fic for it. It's like new and improved talking to yourself or something. I'll write the fic, but should I scratch that and choose a new prompt? 8-o
Does that even make sense to anyone who's not me? It's been bothering me, but not enough to get me off my sickbed during the week to erase the post, or at least put an alternative prompt on it & now it seems a bit late along.
I am a panicky comm runner. I need comments or I fear I am the only one left on LJ. I thought it was a reasonably flexible prompt, even if it were mine originally, so I left it.
Given how many prompts you & I have submitted, it can't be long till I draw out one of yours, too. (I have this poly bag with all the prompts written on bits of paper - it's very hi-tech! But genuinely random.)
I am! I was worrying though whether it was a bit iffy to choose my prompt to be the prompt of the month, but it was random, and it seems silly to remove all of mine... Thanks, tho'. :-)
I love that you're honest enough to not disqualify your own prompts when they are randomly picked - to do otherwise smacks of false humility, I think... I lurk on your straybunnies because I always enjoy seeing what sort of little things are hopping through the grass, but I've so darn little time right now I don't dare pick one up and don't like constantly leaving unhelpful commentary like "nice!" or "That would be great if I just had the time" when what you need is "I'll write that!"
Aw. Mind, I always enjoy 'that's nice' comments too, because it helps me know there are other people out there in the ether. I panic ridiculously easily... *rolls eyes*
If only you did a little more time - your fic is becoming a too-rare thing round here & I always enjoy your stuff. :-)
Don't I know it! I can't believe how long I've been just trying to finish one story - may need to pause and do a few drabbles just to feel like something has been completed. Pbbbbt.
Oh, I hope not. It's just me. I freak out amazingly easily: THERE IS NOBODY LEFT ON MY COMM. IT HAS FAILED. I AM USELESS AND BORING... and, oh, look, a person! Penguins! All is well with the world & everything is shiny.
If we were the only ones left on LJ, I would fade away rapidly, and you would indeed have it all to yourself, but keeping all the stuff active would surely be a drain on time - let's keep the people for now, hey? ;-D
Penguins make everything better... The only reason I've never got involved in the prompt comm to be honest is that a) I have far, far more bunnies than I will ever write alresdy and b) have an unfortunate tendency to hoard them, Smaug-like, rather than giving them to a good home. "That's my bunny!" etc. etc. It's a flaw or something, I guess... ;D
I am...awake. That seems to be most of what I've accomplished this morning thus far, unless petting the cat and making coffee count. Now to decipher my late-night scribbling and type it up.
This is a side-community for fic_rush, where we post our hourly posts during rounds. If you've wandered in here by accident, you'll want to go there instead.
If you're with fic_rush and have just shown up, look for most recent hourly post.

I love your drabbles, too. Whatever you can fit in somewhere is fine by me. But I am eagerly awaiting this One-fic.
*thinks*
Actually, I have a short First Dotcor fic I wrote several weeks ago, and never posted. Maybe I should go post? That might be constructive...

Date: 2010-10-16 03:57 pm (UTC)That sounds like a good idea. How can we arrange it?
(I mean, of course, in terms of forcing him to write a novel and be published, not in personal terms. Obviously.)
*looks about*
Or, have you read I Capture the Castle, by any chance?
