Well done everyone for slogging along! I think this is my hour forty eight, because with fair seas and a following wind, J should be back in the house by the end of the hour if not before, and while I could totally blow him off on the 'it's art' clause, I'm not gonna!

Having failed at spinning yarns, I turned in the last hour (or so) to spinning yarn. As in string made out of fluffy stuff. I'm basically self-taught except for one lesson a few years ago, so learning new techniques is... interesting.

It took me two years of on-and-off work to figure out how to make smooth dense professional-looking yarn with several really thin plies; now I'm working on smooth thick pettable yarn of recognizably fluffy origin. At this rate, I might get the hang of it by the time I graduate. :-(
