Round 84, Hour 1
Mar. 16th, 2018 07:56 pmHelloooo and welcome to the Shiny New Rush, brought back to you by popular acclaim!
If you've never done this before, here's how it works:
- A post will be made every hour. (We hope.)
- You spend as much of the next 48 hours as you can writing, or doing things that support your writing, or doing other creative things that are just as wonderful as writing, or attempting to lay the groundwork so you can then write or create.
- You check in on the comm here as often as you want to and share your progress, and cheer on the other folks. Or you share your creative struggles, and we cheer you on. Or any combination thereof.
- When you check in, find the most recent hourly post. As stated, there should be one every hour, but timey-wimeyness has been known to occur.
- At the end of the round, there will be a wrap-up post on the main
fic_rush comm, where we share our accomplishments for the weekend, brag about wordcount, thank the mods, and generally celebrate.
If you HAVE done this before, that's still how it works, except that you already know at least some of the running jokes.
Modding: this round is a usurp-a-thon. That means that anyone who has posting access may make the hourly post. If you want to have the option of doing this, you must become a member of this comm and let me know that you want posting access. Everyone who already spoke up should be good to go at present, but there's always the possibility of gremlins, so ping me if needed.
A review of the ground rules:
- One post per hour.
- If more than one person posts in a given hour, the first post wins.
- - - the "first post" is defined by whichever one shows up as the first post to hit the comm.
- If you lose a posting race, you must delete your redundant post. You are encouraged to congratulate the winnerand then plot their downfall.
- If you win a posting race, please keep your gloating to a reasonable level.
- - - As victor, you get to decide how much gloating is reasonable.
- You may not rig a usurpation by using a pre-scheduled post, because that would be the wrong kind of evil.
- - - You may set up pre-scheduled posts for periods when it doesn't look like there will be anyone else posting; assuming pre-scheduled posts can be done here on DW. (I haven't tried yet.)
- Try to keep track of which hour it is when you title your posts. Use this convenient Master Schedule Lookup Tableto help.
- - Hours 12, 24, and 36 have been designated as "anchor posts", in hopes of keeping us on track or at least helping us get back on track if/when we wander.
- - Excess timey-wimeyness may be added to your breakfast drink as a nutritious supplement.
- - If you leave cracks in the universe, please spackle and re-paint before you go.
- Always tag your posts with the tag for the round.
- - Yes, we have many silly tags as well. Try not to use ALL of them at once on every post. Two or three is plenty.
- If you write or create or otherwise accomplish stuff, you get a free ninja penguin! This penguin will continue to be free in spite of the fact that it's yours.
- - If you received a ninja penguin in a previous round, you are permitted extra penguins as long as you remember to feed them.
- - - At the end of the round, all our ninja penguins will get together and have a great big parade.
- - - Unfortunately, no one will be able to see the parade, because ninjas, but hey, it'll be fun anyway.
- Have fun, and let's all write and create and stuff!
